Automating update of date restriction in query

spw
Hello,

I am beginner/intermediate user of Access and primariy use the 'Tables'
and Queries' objects. I have a query that is pointing to a set of
tables that will be updated every week. This query summarizes data and
links to an Excel template report. Each week, I will need to do two
things:
1) Re-import the data into Access and over-write the old tables, and
2) Update the date restriction in the where statement because the time
window will keep changing.

Is there a way to automate any of these steps instead of manually doing
them each week with only a basic background in VB?

Thanks for your help

Are you aware that you can choose to "Link" your tables, instead of
"Import"? By having them linked, they are dynamically read from and
written to, so you never have to import them again. Another thing, if
you will continue to have imported tables; you can collect the new data
and use action queries. Action queries add records, delete records,
update records, and even make new tables. In the right combination,
these probably can be used to automatically do all the things you are
doing manually.

Try researching these, and add them to your knowledge. Come back and
post more questions as you get them!

One question: I created an access database that has been extremely useful in my work. I dont' even know at what level of knowledge I am at.
