Microsoft Office XP Developer does not have latest msjet40

When I package my Microsoft Access 2002 application with the Office XP
Developer Packaging Wizard, and include the runtime, the resulting
OSP1.CAB file that is created does not contain the latest msjet40.dll
(SP8), but instead contains SP4. How can I upgrade the packaging
wizard to include the latest component service packs, such as msjet40
and MDAC?

Took me a while to track down what is all happening here. You can't update your
distribution to include the SPs. You have to ship those as separate files on the CD
or download sepately.

The runtime updates the runtime on the client workstations to the same level as
Office XP SP2. This does not update the runtime you the developer create on your own
system. These also do not update Jet.

latest version of Jet. There is a version that is part of a security patch.

As far as MDAC goes I have not worked with it enough to have any practical
experience. Other than to point you to

BTW Office Update http://office.microsoft.com/OfficeUpdate/ will find these as being
required.

Tony,

Thanks for the reply. I have gotten a lot of help from your advice in
the past.

This seems kludgey at best on Microsoft's part. If I understood you
correctly, they release a service pack for a component that is a part
of my installation package, and then they do not provide a way for me
to include it in my installation so the user has the latest component?
Any idea how other Access developers that are distributing their apps
handle this?
