Guys,
Is there a way to change the icons for customised menus within access. The
icons within Access itself are pretty plain and boring and I would like to
spruce my application up a little with some nice icons I have.
Any help greatfully appreciated.

So you have already created customised menus? Right-click any toolbar and
select customize. Now you can right-click any button and change the button
image, etc.
Fletcher
Fletcher,
I have already created the menus, and I am aware on the right-click to
change the button image. What I wanted to know is if you can use icons that
are not part of the standard set provided by Access.

Richard,
What you need to do is open a blank form and paste your custom icons into
the blank form as an image, then copy them from there onto the menu button
image. I used some cool one's myself - a palm tree, bag of money, etc. -
that weren't in Access. Though for the typical boring business stuff most
of us program, the included icons are usually sufficient.

Sound like a good idea, however, I cannot insert the icon file onto the form
as Access does not recongnise the file format which is an icon file .ico

That is what I meant - if you customize then right-click the button, you
have an option to paste a button image (which you would have copied to
clipboard from, say MS Paint). Can you not see this option? My version is
XP but I'm sure previous versions have this.
If you wanted to do it by code, the following link might be of use: http://support.microsoft.com/default...NoWebContent=1

Thanks Fletcher, I think I have got the idea now, just have to work out how
to make them transparent. If I open them is mspaint, then copy and paste,
the icons have a black background.
