Problems With Access 97 Falling Over

Can anyone shed any light on the following problem which has shown
itself in a couple of my Access 97 databases.

When I ask Access to open a form that is based on a query, it will
randomly fall over. The query itself is based on a form which has
several criteria fields, some of which are combo boxes. The undesired
behaviour seems to be related to the combo boxes. When a value is
chosen from one or more of them and I click the button to open the
form showing the query results, Access will sometimes fall over and
shut down.

When I run the database on another machine the problem disappears
which tells me that it has something to do with my install of Access.
I have removed Access 97 and reinstalled it to no avail. Both
machines are also running Access 2002. If I open the database on the
problem machine in Access 2002 everything works fine.

Any suggestions would be appreciated.
