joining and linking 2 tables coming from a make table query

Hi
I got a problem with 2 tables.
I have a table, say A, with x records, coming from a make table query
and a table, say B, with y records, coming from another make table
query. I need to join and link the 2 tables, so that the first record
of A is associated with the fist record of B, the second record of A
is associated (I mean,in the same row) with the second record of B and
so on...until the last row of A (where x<y).
I tried to solve the problem by creating in advance the tables
(similar to those coming from the make table queries), adding to them
an autonumber field and by changing the make table queries into uppend
queries, so that they add the records to those 2 pre existing tables.
Then with a select query I link the 2 autonumber fields and get the
resulting table. That works indeed BUT I have a problem with the
autonumbers. In fact I should reset them every day, as I re run those
queries daily. What can I do? I tried to delete those table with some
queries but the autonumbers obviously go on without restarting from 0.
Nor I can do a "compact" by hand every day..because everything should
work automatically. Any suggestion? Should I change approach to the
problem or what?
