Secure connection to MS Access db

I need help with information on how to make a secure connection from a
VB application to a Microsoft Access database across either the internet
or a LAN.

I have read a lot of information about securing connections but none of
the information has gotten specific enough as to tell me whether or not
I can use it for a VB app to MS Access db link.

The first thought that came to mind was just to set up a VPN. It feels
like there should be a better way than this. One that can fit more
seamlessly in the scenario given.

Anyone out there have any ideas or experience in this?

You can use a VPN, but the internet is quite slow. You can read my notes on
this issue, and I also give some solutions at the end of the article to
using ms-access across a wan/vpn.

To share the file across the net, you will need to "see" it, and that means
using a VPN.

However, you will likely find it not workable. You can consider replicaton.
