Create one report for Multiple uses

489 Contributor
Ok, let's see if I can explain this.
I have a report that can have up to 12 headings, in some cases I wish only to use 6 of the 12 headings.
I could create a additional report for just the 6 headings them I would need to create a report for when I use 7 headings and on up to the max of 12.
I'm wondering if there is a way to use a single report for all the different reports.
I've used the report format to set those columns I don't want to visible = false and that seems to work I have to also move columns around so there isn't a large space left if I eliminate say headings 7 - 12 as there is a total column at the end.
Just wondering is there is a better way.

Just thoughts would be helpful.
Thanks

TBF Tom, that sounds exactly what I would have recommended. Remember, what you're talking about isn't a common or simple idea particularly. Some code to take a number of columns and, from that, set up the .Width, .Left & .Visible properties for each column would make good sense.

If you really get stuck, I use a pretty complex routine which changes the captions and visibility of labels on forms and reports.

I don't intend to go into too much detail as it is too complex to be dealt with on this website, but the basis is a table that holds the names of the forms and reports to be "messed around with" the relevant control names, the control's visibility and alternative captions.

It does not re-position the controls, but that is just a couple of extra field in the table.

At the moment, the reports are "redesigned " depending on the company using them.

You don't explain what affects which headings you want to change.

@Tom.
You must know by now that adding new questions to an existing thread is neither allowed nor a good idea. I've moved your new question to a new thread (Extra Page in Report).

Hi all Help please. I would like to automate the printing of a report. The report actually is a single page and prints a label. I would like to be able to print the report multiple times based on the value of the items field. I have a command button which opens the report in the print option. This works fine when there is only 1 item.

Hello folks, I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>". The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed. This is as boiled down as I can make it. Here is my compilation command: g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp Here is the code in...

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Hello I'm a network technician in training and I need your help. I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs. The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols. I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
