Navigation form in Access 2010 producing error first time a different tab is clicked

I have created a navigation form in Access 2010 using the horizontal tabs, 2 levels style. This form is my startup form. In the top row, I have to options. Under each option are several sub-tabs with forms bound to them. When I first open the database and click on the second of the two main tabs, I get a VBA error message saying This action will reset your project, proceed anyway?. If I click OK, I can then click back and forth between the two main tab without any problem I can even click on the sub-tabs. If I close the form and reopen it and try to click on the second main tab, I get the error message again. I have no code or macros in any events in the navigation buttons, controls, or the subform, so it must be an internal code that is running and causing the error. I have no idea how to troubleshoot this, but I've go to get it fixed before I can publish this database as I'm sure that Access Run-time will crash when this happens as it doesn't have any error handling capabilities.

How can I stop this error message?

Edit: I just tried making a new form and adding the navigation control with the same setup and it doesn't get the error. So I might just try starting over as there isn't much code to copy over. I would still like to know what caused this so that I can keep from having this issue again.

Search this site use "ZMBD" "Navigation Control"
>removed bad link

You'll note that the ACC2010-Navigation Control has some quirks.

One of which is that if you use a two (or more) tiered control panel and the parent "Has Module" is true, you're sunk - period. So the "ON Load/Open/etc..." events cause an issue. SO will any code in command buttons etc...

You need to move the VBA from Subs to Functions for all VBA used in the ACC-2010-NavigationContr ol parent form and then use the MACRO language to call the VBA functions. THUS< the parent form "Has Module" property stays false/no and you can still use the VBA script.

Welcome to the NEW and IMPROVED switch board concept.

So if I reduce my number of levels to one, are there any limitations on the code?

Your link doesn't work. I did a search through Google, and I got 1270 results. Anything else to narrow it down? I looked at the first two results and didn't find anything that I hadn't already discovered in my own research.

Should work; however, if you create the accde version, be prepared to also move to macro level triggers for the parent form.

(sorry about the bad link, thought the bytes.com would stay put - nonetheless you did find something :) )

I'll give that a try tomorrow when I get to work. I don't use the accde version as the users are only running Access Runtime and don't have any database editing capabilities anyway.

It sounds like I will need to learn how to use Macros to call VBA functions if I want to keep using the navigation control in the future though.

It works now. I moved all the code to another module and used macros to call the functions and I no longer get the error message when changing the first level tabs.

Thanks Z.

Outside of the navigation form it works great. when i add it to the navigation form on open the access paramter box pops up asking for criteria instead of just letting me enter it on the form. Hello, In Access 2010/2007, how do you prevent users from flipping into design view from the ribbon? I do not want to hide the entire ribbon (DoCmd.ShowToolbar "Ribbon", acToolbarNo) or even the "View" part of the "Home" tab because users like being able to flip between Form View and Datasheet View in the forms. It turns out that on our network, if a user inadvertantly clicks Design View, then the database becomes locked to new users until...

Hi everybody, My title may not exactly describe my issue, so please forgive my lack of creativity today. I've got a database that was created in Access 2003 that I've opened in Access 2010. I intend on keeping the .mdb format for the time being, so I'm not performing a true conversion...just trying to get it to work in the new version. I'm familiar with a number of areas in 2003 that have to be modified to work in 2010, but my issue today...

I have just upgraded to Access 2010 (64 bit) from Access 2007. There were a few minor issues in the database which I have resolved but this one piece of code just won’t work. I do not write VBA but have a rudimentary understanding of it. This code was not written by me and I am still trying to understand why it doesn’t work? I have posted the code below; this is what it is supposed to do: I have a main form that displays each record. The form...

Hello folks, I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>". The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed. This is as boiled down as I can make it. Here is my compilation command: g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp Here is the code in...

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own.... Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...
