1 New Member
I need to create a new Access DB based on one already existing...Henc e, I am attempting to copy the db struture and not the data; It's a yearly db I need to track/create. I looked on this site and deligtfully found a same question (printed below)...I worked through the process suggested to create the new db, but I can only get tables to transfer, or any query or report also transfers as a table??? And I don't have any table or queries in my Navagation Pane.

re: Make a copy of an access database

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I'm not running access 2007 but I'm going to assume it's quite similar to 2003. To accomplish this I create a blank database. Go to file> Get External Data > Import. Browse and select the database you want to import. This should bring up a list of all the objects in the database. Select the objects you want to import. There should also be an option group titled "Import tables" with the two options "Data and Definition" or "Definition " only. Selecting "Definition only" will import just the table structure but no data.

Hope this helps.
It worked. Thanks for the help!

Hi, another question: What's the most efficient way of copying data between two file-like objects? f1.write(f2.read()) doesn't seem to me as efficient as it might be, as a string containing all the contents of f2 will be created and thrown away. In the case of two StringIO objects, this means there's a point when the contents is held in...

I also don't want projects being built with the old copy. Thanks! Bill

I do programming in Access 2000 and 2003. I don't have a copy of 2003 myself, though. I have read about the adp software that comes with Access 2003, that converts an application to an access front end with a SQL server backend. It sounds like a good way for me to begin to learn about SQL server. I have thought about just shelling out...

I am using Access 2003 (on WinXP) to read from an Oracle db, where there is a table with a CLOB which is a variable-size text field. In the 'linked table' which is created in the Tables panel of Access, the CLOB becomes a Memo field. I need to create a report that displays the data from this CLOB in the correct format. The data in the CLOB...

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For...
