Storing Time Values

228 New Member
I am working on a small database and need some help.

Basically, it is employees in and out program. From vb6, I would calculate the difference between in and out and know for how long the employee has worked.

Now, the program works fine for times like this:

9-10,10:30-11:00 etc.

But from 12:00-1:00, it gives like 11 hours! I think the error is related to 12/24 hour format and I am so confused on how to deal with it.

I am not sure if this [Access Forum] is the place to post the question, but please guide me on how to deal with it.

There is a VB section in another part of this forum, so this is a wrong place for your question. Unless you are actually writing VBA in MS Access.

Also, please post out the code you work on that is related, otherwise its difficult for people to help you.

What should be a very simple function is going terribly wrong, and I don't know why. StartTime and EndTime are table values (formatted like "01:00A" or "02:00P"); DaypartStart and DaypartEnd are string values I specify when calling the function (initially tried passing time values & the same problem occurs); In the If statement, I can compare...

Hi all. I'm creating a FE/BE database that will be used by about 6 users. As usual, I have several fields, such as "OrganizationTypeID" that will get values (via combo boxes in forms) from separate lookup tables. I know the 'correct' way to do this, using a long integer as the field type. In this case, however, I am considering doing it...

Hi, I am writing an SQL query in which I need to compare two fields which are both storing time information. The datatype of the first field is Date/Time and the format is HH:MM. The second field is stored as an integer formated as HHMMSS. I'm kind of lost here. Any help you could give me would be greatly appreciated.

I am running an import of some date/time values that have come from a Cognos query. These values are in a CSV file and I want to import them into access. The CSV file would show the value thus: 01/12/2007 3:15PM However when I import into Access, Access creates import errors ad won't import the values. The import spec shows them as...

Hello folks, I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>". Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For...
