I wonder if anyone can help with the following:
when using an autonumber in access when you use .addnew you automatically
get the field in an autonumber field i.e.
rs.addnew
jno=autonofld
rs.update

I have a table where the key field is an autonumber. The highest number
was about 900, and there are several gaps in the sequence. This database was
recently converted from Access 97 to Access 2002/XP
At some point, it started using low numbers for new records. I compacted the
database, and it's still doing this.
Is this a problem? Will it start overwriting the high numbers when it gets
to them?

Hello
I currently have a Access 2003 database, I am able to add a record to it, and the CustomerID field (which is auto generated by the Database) is correctly filled in by the Database. I am now trying to figure out a way to retreive this number to use it in another Table of the Same Database. Anyone have any examples or resources that I can use to find the best way that I can accomplish this task? Any help/resources that you can provide...

Ok, here it goes.
I got my queries straightened out and they return the data I want in the format I want(finally). The data are sorted alpha. descending by ProjectName. Each project has a unique ProjectID, which is the left-most field. Sorting by ProjectName means that the ProjectID field is not in numerical order.

The boss wants to have an ordinal number field called something like 'ItemNumber'...

Hello,
I have a database that was written in access 2007 on my pc. I wanted to work off site with the database so I uploaded it onto my laptop which is loaded with access 2010 beta.
When I finished working with the database and return it to my pc(which has access 2007) I can't get it open because Access say that the file is not the right format.
Does anyone have a way to work around this compatibility problem?

I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>".
