Can't delete from linked table - 3086 error

I have a user who has created an Access 2007 database with one linked table to SQL Server 2005.

He wants to purge the linked table and repopulate it, but gets the 3086 error when running a delete statement. I might think the syntax is wrong, but when opening the table in Access the delete option is disabled (but only on the linked table). He can delete records from that table from within SQL Server, so it's not a permissions issue on that side.

I would guess that it's a security setting within Access, but haven't found anything that would seem to cause this behavior (but I'm not an Access expert).

Thanks in advance.

I have a VBA subroutine that links an MS Excel spreadsheet and copies the data into a local table. This process is controlled by a form that allows users to select the spreadsheet from the file system. I actually import from two different named ranges from each workbook so for every import the following subroutine is used twice. The database is used to collate data collected from different surveys entered by remote users into an Excel...

How to run action query against linked table? I have an Access 2003 mdb with an Excel 2003 Workbook as a linked table. When I attempt to run an action query against the linked table I get this error: Deleting data in a linked table is not supported by this ISAM. From what I understand, indexed sequential access method (ISAM) drivers are used to update "non-Microsoft" file formats. So why doesn't Access

Hello one and all. I have a stored table in my database and the form I'm using is based on a query that draws data from my stored table and a linked table. The linked table is a *.txt file. However, whenever I try to edit data I get the error message "Updating data in a linked table is not supported by this ISAM." I can understand not being able to edit the linked data, but the field I'm trying to update is drawn from the stored...

Thanks for taking the time to read my question. I have a split DB and I want to be able to delete the old table, copy an existing table that is in the back end, rename it, and then make sure all my links are still in tact. Right now I seem to be just doing this to my table links in my front end. Is this possible? Here is my code:

Hello! This is my first time asking a question here, so please bear with me if I seem 'unconventional!' My issue is this..... OS: Windows_NT App: MS Access 2000 (also in 2003) ODBC linked table into a DB for which I have read/write/delete authority. I have verified the authority in the source DB - ad nauseum - it works. Tested the table in question (Region) specifically and another table (Store_Info) as well. I can open the Region...

I created a database to visually compare pictures stored on a computer then delete the duplicate pictures from the computer. I imported the pictures into the Pictures table which has an ID field, an attachment field, and a hyperlink field containing the file location of the picture. After comparing the pictures, if they are the same, I append the picture to a table called DuplicatePictures which only has the ID and file path. The problem is that...

Hello folks, I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>". The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed. This is as boiled down as I can make it. Here is my compilation command: g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp Here is the code in...
