Is it possible to perform calculations on auto populated fields?

2 New Member
I created a form in Access 2007 where some of the fields are "auto filled" from lookup tables. For example, I have a lookup table named "classes taken" which has the columns "class name", "units", and "hours". On the form, entering a "class name" from a drop-down list automatically fills in the units and clock hours in the two text boxes (Units, Clock Hours) that I created. To clarify, the control source for the unit text box is =[Classes Taken].[column](2), and for the clock hours text box is =[Classes Taken].[column](3). Here's the problem: on the form footer, I created text boxes to calculate total units and total clock hours. For example, for total units, =Sum([Classes Taken].[column](2)).However, when I go to the form view, the total unit text box displays "#error". How can I fix this? Is there a way to perform calculations on auto populated fields? Thanks for any assistance that you may be able to provide.

I could be wrong, but I don't believe it is possible to total unbound controls. See Why Values in Unbound Form Controls do not Persist for why.

There may be a way round it, but that would depend on including the data in your Record Source somehow (making the control bound).

I have a table in Access which is auto populating fields which I do not want to happen. If I list a number in a field, and then another number in the field below it, and then a third number, if those numbers happen to coincidentally follow a pattern (for example, 10322,10324,10326), the fields below are auto populating to follow the same pattern....

Hi, last week our project upgraded from vs.net 2005 to vs.net 2008. Our project still uses framework 2.0, because the deployment servers are not 3.x ready yet. Everything so far while migrating the solution and project files worked fine. Today, I tried to add new controls to an existing web form. The markup doesn't show any errors, but...
