hi
i need some advice on whether if it would be better to use an append
query or an update query. here is the situation, i have linked another
database table to my current database. then i created a query for the
linked database but eventually i need to have this query to be
constantly updated and append to another table in the current
database. i hope i'm not too vague but i have no idea if i should use
an update or an append query....

Hi all,
my question is maybe so trivial, that I even could not find it in
Google's NG seach, so I annoy you now:
I simply want to copy the result of a SELECT query to another table
which has the same structure.
All I could do until now is showing the result of the query in another
form with the query as data source:

Hi
This has taken me ages to work out but i'm sure there is a simple
explanation and somebody here will be able to help. I'll talk you
through it as best i can:
1. User enters dates on an initial form
2. This then opens up another form asking for shift colour
(red/blue/green) and times shift start and end on dates entered in 1st
form.
3. This is where the problem starts...I have set up queries to

Greetings,
It appears that an Append Query I run in Access XP is randomly failing
to append a field.
I have payroll data being entered into a payroll database. This data
is exported daily to two csv files. (One for updated data, and the
other for unupdated data.)
The CSV files are attached to my Jobcosting database. After the CSV

Hello All,
First of all I would like to say thank you for all of the help I have
received here. I have been teaching myself Access for about 4 years
now and I've always been able to find a solution here - until now.
This one is driving me crazy.
I am making my first attempt at creating a runtime application. I am
using Access 2003 Developer Extensions. Initially I developed the
database without planning on creating a runtime app...

I have four tables of different "entities". One table contains
information for "people", one for "trusts", one for "companies" and one
for "self managed super funds". Each type of entity has an autonumber
ID, "Person ID" "Trust ID" "Company ID" and "SMSF ID"
A "portfolio" table holds information about what shares, funds and
properties everyone owns. But because its organised by "PersonID" it
currently only can hold information for...

I tried to be breif and give a scenario so as not to be overlooked because
it was soooo long. Let me give you real world.
I am a manufacturer of goods and produce 11 items that are distributed to
1800 stores of a national home improvement chain store. Every week I
electronicaly receive an excel spreadsheet "inventory report" with 19,800
rows or records, which I import into my tblSalesData table. The table now
has 10 weeks of data or...

Hello all,
So I'm knee deep in this import utility program, and am coming up with all
sorts of "gotcha's!".
1st off. On a "Find Duplicates Query", does anyone have a good solution for
renaming the duplicate records? My thinking was to take the results of the
duplicate query, and somehow have it number each line where there is a
duplicate (tried a groups query, but "count" won't work), then do an update
query to change the duplicate to...

Most computers default to English, but sometimes we require a different language, especially when relocating. Forgot to request a specific language before your computer shipped? No problem! You can effortlessly switch the default language on Windows 10 without reinstalling. I'll walk you through it.
First, let's disable language synchronization. With a Microsoft account, language settings sync across devices. To prevent any complications,...

Hello folks,
I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>".
The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed.
This is as boiled down as I can make it.
Here is my compilation command:
g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp
Here is the code in...

Overview:
Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Dear forum friends,
With the development of smart home technology, a variety of wireless communication protocols have appeared on the market, such as Zigbee, Z-Wave, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, etc. Each protocol has its own unique characteristics and advantages, but as a user who is planning to build a smart home system, I am a bit confused by the choice of these technologies. I'm particularly interested in Zigbee because I've heard it does some...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own....
Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...
