Creating a Table in MS Access Reports

12 New Member
Is it possible to create a table within MS Access Reports so that horizontal data stays aligned?

For example, I have two columns of data. The left column is fixed, the right column will be dynamically generated based on data in the table, usually larger text segments.

I need some way to maintain the horizontal alignment of text on the left side with that on the right. Basically, a simple word like table.

X Text
- Text
- Text

Y Text
- Text

Z Text
- Text
- Text
- Text

Etc.

Not sure what you mean here. Despite what you say in your post your example data is not shown in a table-like layout at all, much less a Word table layout. Word tables are row-oriented; the inscrutable sample data you have posted is not.

For us to get a better grasp of all this it really is better to post data more representative of the real thing than X this and Y that - meaningless in the circumstances I'm sorry to say.

Access reports are not like Word documents - there is no table construct you can use, although it can to some extent be simulated using textboxes with their Can Grow properties set to Yes. In the detail section of your report if you include textboxes side by side and set Can Grow to Yes for the one containing the variable-length the rows will remain horizontally aligned.

I use an Access database to basically take data exports, import them, manipulate the data, and then turn them into exportable reports. I do this using numerous macros, and queries to get the data in the format that I need it in order to create the reports that we use. So far this has proven to be successful for the reports that I am doing and the data that I am pulling into it. I just have one challenge that may require a lot of work and I...

I have a secured database that contains a Read-Only group. This group has permissions to view reports, but cannot add, edit, or delete any DB objects. One of the reports the group needs access to is generated with a Make-Table Query. Since the Make-Table Query deletes the previous table it created everytime it's ran, this poses a problem since the Read-Only group doesn't have the permission to delete objects. This causes the report...

Well at least for 10 years. I have a database that tracks reports submitted. I am keeping data for a year and a half since two different reports that need to be generated (end of calender year and end of fiscal year). Every 18 months, once reports are done, I manually clear out the data to start over. What I want to do is enter the date of the report by month and year, and have access translate it to the cooresponding fiscal year. I am...

I have been having endless difficulty creating reports/queries that set any relevent parameters from controls in forms. I am creating an application under access 2003 but will target access 2000. The access file is in access 2000 format. I have a form that will hold the relevent parameters for the query/report that reports the statistics for all job records that match a certain criteria. These are: - A Customer Name.

I want to create a form that will allow the user to select from a list of available reports and based on a filter limit the records displayed in the report. I have figured out how to access the reports collection to populate a list box containing the report names. The filter I currently have lists some key fields that I think the user may want to filter on. A WHERE string is constructed based on the feilds that the user inputs values into....

Hi I am having problems designing a Report in Access 2000. My master table is based on Job numbers, profiling Projects on which a number of staff are working. For resourcing reasons we need to produce a weekly report detailing the jobs individuals are working on, person by person. I have created queries for each individual by quoting the following fields: job number, job descrition and the employees reference (a tick box with criteria...

If you look at this page on relational database design: http://r937.com/relational.html And scroll down to the "Many-to-Many Relationships" Section you will see a common database structure. I can not find a simple way to create forms and reports in Access that allow you to enter and display data in a structure such as this.

Most computers default to English, but sometimes we require a different language, especially when relocating. Forgot to request a specific language before your computer shipped? No problem! You can effortlessly switch the default language on Windows 10 without reinstalling. I'll walk you through it. First, let's disable language synchronization. With a Microsoft account, language settings sync across devices. To prevent any complications,...

Hello folks, I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>". The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed. This is as boiled down as I can make it. Here is my compilation command: g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp Here is the code in...

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Dear forum friends, With the development of smart home technology, a variety of wireless communication protocols have appeared on the market, such as Zigbee, Z-Wave, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, etc. Each protocol has its own unique characteristics and advantages, but as a user who is planning to build a smart home system, I am a bit confused by the choice of these technologies. I'm particularly interested in Zigbee because I've heard it does some...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own.... Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...
