A2K3: Can't send e-mails with Outlook Express

PW
Hi,

A client of ours is having problems using our email interface. Our
application is written in Access 2003 and the client is using
Microosft Outlook Express version 6. We use the DoCmd SendObject
syntax and they are receiving the error "The command or action
'SendObject' isn't available now."

Using Internet Explorer we go to Tools/Options and the default email
program is set to Outlook Express.

Any ideas?

Hi,

I had a similar problem lately with Access 2003 not recognising
Thunderbird email client. I found this article on the microsoft
website
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/834008
which takes you through some registry changing, and the sendobject is
working again.

Hope this helps,

Franc.

Thanks Franc. I will check it out!

Registry changes? Oh boy. Not sure about that. Some of our clients
barely know how to put a cd in the drive! :-)

Ah, but our clients aren't using any third party programs - just
Outlook and Outlook Express. Works with 99% of them so maybe it is a
registry thing (scary though).

for the other one.

Thank you so much!

Over the years since the introduction of "the monolithic save" in A2K, I've seen much discussion on it. But I'm not sure exactly what is happening in A2K3. When I save in the Access window, I don't get any comments. however, when I save in the VBA window (which opens separately from the access window when you're working on class or standard modules), it will ask me what I want to save, if I've made changes in 2 or more modules. What's...

Here's the situation. A form, frmSetUp, with a subform control called subExplain with a source object form frmSetUpSubDefineSides. The source object is a bound form, displaying a few records, no edit, adds, filters, etc, are permitted on the subform. An add or edit button on the subform is clicked opening an unbound form, frmSetUpSideAdd, (populated with values from the above subform if this is an edit of an existing record) for data...

I'm setting up a project for a client on a new Windows Terminal Server. The application is currently in A2K, but the sysadmin does not want to install that, he wants to install A2K3, because Office 2K3 is the organization's new standard (they want to be fully converted within the new calendar year). What issues will I have, if any, with A2K3 on WTS? Anything different from A2K? Anything not specific to WTS that I need to know about...

Apologies in advance, I know that this has been asked before but I'm hoping someone has a quick and concise answer. My PC runs XP Pro SP2 with Office 2003 Pro. One of my clients runs A2000 and I've found that converting to previous versions in A2k3 unreliable. Can I have both A2k and A2k3 on the same PC running on the same OS? Many thanks. Keith.

I'm working on converting an A97 DB that someone else wrote to A2K3. It's converted fine, as far as I can see. Now while making changes, I've removed several buttons on a form that called reports, & removed the code that the buttons used; the reports are no longer needed. However, the object dependency view is still showing those reports linked to the form, even though I can't see anything that connects them any longer. Is there a...

I need to knock something up quickly to allow a teacher to record incidents at a school. This means logging the type of incident e.g bullying, fight etc and the pupils that were involved. So I have tblPupils, tblPupilEventLink (the junction table) and tblIncidents. tblPupils relates to the junction table on PupilID and tblIncidents relates using IncidentID, as this is clearly a many to many relationship - many events can involve a...

Hi, I have a form (with an ActiveX control on it - don't know if that is the problem) and I can not see the dialog/message boxes. There is an error with my form and I can not see what it is because it's behind the form. I can not move the form out of the way either. The form is not modal, it's not a pop-up, and it's not a dialog box either.

I have a relatively simple (I assume) issue which I am at a complete loss to address. My issues is: I want to populate fields in my tables with summary data from the same table. Let me explain: tblItemDetails (contains data on food products purchased) Item_Description_ID (key, source link to tblMenuItemRecipe) Item_Unit_of_Measure Item_Location Item_Type Item_Category

Am I the only one that finds the help in Access 2003 extremely clumsy to use relative to the help in earlier versions? You can't undock that stupid task pane (it should be docked to the help window, not the Access window), the search is awkward, it wants to search online (I'd like to choose whether it searches online or in the local help), the resulting topics list is harder to read and it's hard to find the index. I'm not commenting...

Hi all, I am deploying an A2k app to users with different versions of Access. Using Access 2000 the relinking on startup (on deploying a new frontend or when backend has changed) is very fast. It takes about 4-5 seconds to relink some 50 tables. (I am relinking, not refreshing) Using Access 2003 the relinking is very slow compared with Access 2000. Now It takes about 1,5 to 2 minutes !! to relink the same 50 tables. I am testing...

Most computers default to English, but sometimes we require a different language, especially when relocating. Forgot to request a specific language before your computer shipped? No problem! You can effortlessly switch the default language on Windows 10 without reinstalling. I'll walk you through it. First, let's disable language synchronization. With a Microsoft account, language settings sync across devices. To prevent any complications,...

Hello folks, I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>". The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed. This is as boiled down as I can make it. Here is my compilation command: g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp Here is the code in...

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own.... Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...

Hello I'm a network technician in training and I need your help. I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs. The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols. I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
