Open A Specified Form In Another Database In Design View

Is there a way to programatically open a form named "MyForm" in another
Access database in design view and get various properties of the form?

Thanks!

There is no need to post your question to more than 3 newsgroups!
Indeed, it's seldom necessary to post to more than one group.
I have truncated the groups to 3 in this reply.

Public Sub OpenForeignForm ()
' Run a form in design view located in a different database
Dim appAccess As Access.Applicat ion
Dim strValue1 As String
Dim strValue2 As String
Set appAccess = CreateObject("A ccess.Applicati on")
appAccess.OpenC urrentDatabase "C:\My Household\HomeM aint.mdb"
appAccess.DoCmd .OpenForm "frmMaintai n", acDesign

strValue1 = appAccess.Forms !frmMaintain.Re cordSource
strValue2 = appAccess.Forms !frmMaintain.Fi lter

MsgBox "RecordSour ce is " & strValue1 & vbNewLine & "Form
Filter is " & strValue2
appAccess.Quit
Set appAccess = Nothing

End Sub

Hi Fred,

The evidence "no******@nomse nse.com" to me suggests that he is.

I am working with VB.NET. It has just started losing my design view of a form when I open a project. If the design view was open when I last closed it, the view is there, but the Solution Explorer doesn't give a tab for it, and the form in the Solution Explorer just shows as a .vb file, not as a form icon. To fix it, I have to remove the file from the project, then re-add it. And once it's gone wrong, it seems to keep going wrong. Also, it...

I am trying to open Database #2 while in Database #1 and delete a table that is in #2 so that I can copy a table from #1 into #2 - all through a function. My Database #2, as part of the start up, opens a form for user sign in. It is not starting up with autoexec. I do not want the function to open the window and subsequently open the form in Database #2. Is there anyway to get around this? If I put the open form in the autoexec and...

Hello, I want to make a form based on a table with many records. I used the wizard to make a 'form in table layout'. The wizard is not able to make the form due to too many fields. I discovered that the standard form properties gives a maximum form width of 55.873cm (22 inch). How do I change this width and enlarge it to e.g. 70cm so the wizard will be able to make the form? Thanks for your help, Sylvia

If I open the form in design view - I see the graph in the graph control. If I dbl-clik the graph control, microsoft graph opens and displays the graph fine there too.

This is a new problem for me: I have some queries that open very slowly in design view. My benchmark query takes about 20 minutes to open in design view. That same query takes about 20 minutes to open in datasheet view. As an experiment, I deleted all rows in all tables; after that, the query took only seconds to open in both design view and datasheet view. From these facts, I conclude that Access is evaluating the query when I go to...

Most computers default to English, but sometimes we require a different language, especially when relocating. Forgot to request a specific language before your computer shipped? No problem! You can effortlessly switch the default language on Windows 10 without reinstalling. I'll walk you through it. First, let's disable language synchronization. With a Microsoft account, language settings sync across devices. To prevent any complications,...

Hello folks, I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>". The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed. This is as boiled down as I can make it. Here is my compilation command: g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp Here is the code in...

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Dear forum friends, With the development of smart home technology, a variety of wireless communication protocols have appeared on the market, such as Zigbee, Z-Wave, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, etc. Each protocol has its own unique characteristics and advantages, but as a user who is planning to build a smart home system, I am a bit confused by the choice of these technologies. I'm particularly interested in Zigbee because I've heard it does some...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own.... Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...

Hello I'm a network technician in training and I need your help. I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs. The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols. I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
