How Do I Obtain the Microsoft Jet OLE DB Provider?

TC
I have a computer running Windows XP SP2. I get the message "The
'Microsoft.Jet. OLEDB.4.0' provider is not registered on the local
machine".

Microsoft provides instructions for obtaining the Jet components in
the following article: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/239114.
However, that article is confusing. Instead of offering me a download,
it seems to be telling me I already have what I need.

Does this mean something is wrong with my installation of Windows? And
if I re-install SP2, will I then have the Jet OLE DB provider
installed on my computer?

I was advised to post this question in a different newsgroup. I don't

Hello, My VB application read and writes data from and to a MS Excel workbook, using the Microsoft.Jet.OLEDB.4.0 provider. I have installed the MS ActiveX Data Object 2.0 Library on my computer and everything works fine. I have created a setup using the Package & Deployment Wizard. I thought, let's make the setup a bit more up-to-date, so I included the mdac_type.exe version 2.7.

I am absolutely bewildered by now by the Microsoft.Samples SSPI and Security assemblies. I've been trying to set these up in a very straightforward harness in the way that I'd like to be able to use them. No IIS. Use TCP, binary. Standard server example with a console host and console client. .NET 1.1, windows XP. (I tried posting to the remoting newsgroup, no answers in the last couple days, trying here in hopes that more people watch this...

Discovered this interesting comment on MSDN: "To programmatically obtain the hard disk's serial number that the manufacturer assigns, use the Windows Management Instrumentation (WMI) Win32_PhysicalMedia (a class) property SerialNumber." I'm sorry to admit it bit I am really undereducated on how to incorporate some of the Windows SDK stuff into VBA apps. Anyone know of some sample code that will allow us to read the C drive hardware...

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Hello I'm a network technician in training and I need your help. I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs. The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols. I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
