Displaying formatted data (memo field?) in a report via some kind of RTF Control?

1 New Member
Hi all,
Working on a pretty fancy access report that prints out a schedule of events in a two-column format, I've stumbled across the need for displaying formatted text into a field. Since I'm using Access 2000, it lacks the ability to do this natively, so I was wondering if anyone had a solution.

I've made use of one of the controls of Lebans.com (TextWidthHeigh t one, rather spiffy), but it seems the RTF display controls there are for forms more than Reports (and I'm hoping to find a non-ActiveX one too). Doesn't look like anything new has been updated there in at least a year (but I admit, I didn't check every single link either).

Pretty much, the report just needs to display the formatted data in a fixed-width/height control (so getting that AutoTextSize ability to work is needed; dunno if it's integratable or not with an RTF display control or Image control). For editing, I plan on constructing a Form to allow tweaking of the data (which itself will be imported from a CSV file generated by our master database system). Formatting, of course, being rather simple...usuall y just bold and italics support.

Anyone got any ideas on how to approach that, or know if Lebans has updated stuff at another site or something? (Not sure if he still lurks here or not).

Thanks for any tips or info!

Hi, I have a report based on a query. The query grabs a memo field from my main table, yet when I display the memo field in the report it truncates the memo field (the field needs to hold more than 255 characters). The table holds all the memo text, but the query seems to truncate the memo field to 255 chars? This seems like there should be a relatively easy fix, but I can't seem to find it.

A report has a subform. The subform is set to datasheet view and its RecordSource is a select query that includes a memo field from the source table. The memo field's Can Grow property is Yes, and the subform Detail section's Can Grow property is Yes. The report Detail section's Can Grow property is also Yes. When run, the select query's memo field has all the data. However, when I run the report, the subform does not show all the...

Does using CStr on a memo field truncate it to 255 characters? Seems like this is happening with some data in my tables. Is there a way around this?

Hello, I'm looking for a way to parse/format a memo field within a report. The Access 2000 database (application) has an equipment table that holds a memo field. Within the report, the memo field is printed within the detailed area. The problem is, the apllication is not setup properly, thus the users are entering data within the memo field as: location1 1/1/2005 1/1/2006

Hi, I have gone throught the group and Microsoft's online help and have seen many suggestions but I am still seeking clarity: 1. I have an excel spreadsheet. Column A contains text that may be greater than 255 characters. 2. I have an access database. I link (not import) to the contents of the excel spreadsheet. In the design view in access, Column A has the data type "memo".

I have a memo field that is printed using Access Reports. Various fields from this table are used to fill in the heading and the body of the report uses that memo field. I now need to place some CR's & LF's into this memo so that the report is easy to read. I know that I can place the CR's into the ASCII text file before I import, but LF's I cannot because that affects the number of records loaded. I placed the characters <crlf> to indicate...

I am using Access 2003. I have a memo field that I have put into a report. My problem is that the report will only show a specific amount of characters in the report. It does not display the entire field. I have checked the properties and they are set to memo so what is happening here? I think it is happening in more than one field but I have only been able to identify or replicate the problem in one field. Thanks

I am using Access 2003 (on WinXP) to read from an Oracle db, where there is a table with a CLOB which is a variable-size text field. In the 'linked table' which is created in the Tables panel of Access, the CLOB becomes a Memo field. I need to create a report that displays the data from this CLOB in the correct format. The data in the CLOB contains any number of chr(13), i.e. Carriage Returns, without LF, to separate lines of data that are...

I have a report that I run every quarter. When I opened it this quarter, one of the subreports is not displaying. No error message - just nothing displays where the subreport data should be. If you run the subreport on its own, it displays fine. It just won't display on the main report. I tried deleting and readding the subreport. No luck. There are other subreports on the main one and they are acting fine. Any ideas? (Using Access 2000)....

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Hello I'm a network technician in training and I need your help. I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs. The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols. I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
