Write Conflict when moving to next record

Hello all,
Using Acc2000, I'm getting a Write Conflict when trying to move to the next record. I have a form that is bound to a table. It has 7 check boxes representing each day of the week and a button to submit button.

I check one of the boxes and click the submit cmd button which updates several fields in the table including the checkboxes and date/time stamps. I get the "Write Conflict" dialog box when code reaches the "docmd.gotorec, ,acnext".

I'm assuming the table is in an edit state and the record is locked but, I'm not sure where or when to set the "Dirty" to false.

Hi Bender. Insert an IF in your code just before the DoCmd.gotorec:
Expand|Select|Wrap|Line Numbers
  1. If Me.Dirty then
  2.     Me.Dirty = False
  3. End If
In Access 2003 this saves the record that is yet to be updated. Hope the same happens with A2000.

I have an Access 2000 front end with a SQL Server 2000 back end. I have about 15 users using the database at any given time and sometimes a problem comes up where 2 people are accessing the same record and changes get lost (from what I've read, even though I tried to set Access to use pessimistic locking, it reverts back to optimistic locking when it's a SQL Server table). So I wrote code to lock a record and notifiy another user that...

I've loked over older messages on this, but haven't found a solution. I have a datasheet of records, and each record has a subform that can be viewed with the expand '+' symbol. The subform simply shows addition fields of the record it is expanded from. I used the subform control wizard to tell it how to link the records when creating the subform. There is only one control in the subform that the users can edit, a textbox. All the...

Hi all, I am using an Access client linked to a PG 7.4 server via ODBC. I have a stored proc on the server that inserts rows into a table.particular table, accomplished via an INSERT within the body of the stored proc. The procedure does not explicitly commit this data, as no transactions are invoked. The problem is that Access will not modify these records via table or form view, giving its generic "Write conflict: another user has...

Hi, I have a query that I have been using as a record source for a form with no problems. I just created a new "addnew" form, and added 20 records to the table with this form. The problem I now have is I cannot modify data on these new records using my query. The query's sql is: SELECT tblSpaceUse.* FROM tblSpaceUse; The error I get is: "Write Conflict -

After searching the group and the net, I just can't believe after all this work I'm going to have to sit through three Write Conflict messages when I want to roll back and delete a record. The action rolls back a new hire record, deleting it from a joining table between employee and position - tblPosEmpRecord. It's a many to many join. The new hire action updates the employee with a new position and logs

Hello, I have a main form with one subform. I have a command button on the main form to delete the current record. Below is my code. The tables on which the main form and subform are based cascade deletions and updates, so getting rid of the record in the table for the main form should delete any corresponding records in the table for the subform. Everything appears to be working correctly in this code from the standpoint of the tables. ...

Hello folks, I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>". The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed. This is as boiled down as I can make it. Here is my compilation command: g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp Here is the code in...

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Dear forum friends, With the development of smart home technology, a variety of wireless communication protocols have appeared on the market, such as Zigbee, Z-Wave, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, etc. Each protocol has its own unique characteristics and advantages, but as a user who is planning to build a smart home system, I am a bit confused by the choice of these technologies. I'm particularly interested in Zigbee because I've heard it does some...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own.... Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...
