I have two MSAccess tables MainTab and SubTab. MainTab has an autonumber
'id' column as primary key. Subtab has this id column as a foreign key.
There is a one-to-many relationship defined on MainTab and Subtab using the

Hi all,
Here's my situation:
I have 2 tables, let's call them TableA and TableB. TableA has a primary key
called AffNo, TableB's primary key (--> foreign key in TableA) is called ID,
and is Autonumber.
I want to do a form to input information for TableA, with a subform for
TableB where i can enter several records concerning TableA. This seems to

We're starting to use Oracle for the back-end instead of a separate
Access .mdb file for the data and everything as gone surprisingly well
so far. We are learning Oracle as we go; Yikes! But we have very
patient DBA's at the main office to answer newbie questions.
Using Access 2002 with linked ODBC tables to Oracle 9 (9i? not sure),
ODBC driver is SQORA32.DLL, verson 9.02.00.00.

I am using an autonumber as a form id with a SubForms (which
automatically fill the linking fields from the parent into the child).
Occasionally (maybe 5% of the time) the autonumber does not work... it
simple continues to say "(autonumber)" and so the child linking field
isn't created. The data entered is in the table but the autonumber id
field is blank so the subform linked data can not be linked and/or
displayed. Anyone have any...

Is there an "easy" way to write a full record (all fields) using "INSERT
INTO..." into a table which has an AutoNumber field?
Normally, to write a full new record I would use:
INSERT INTO VALUES (Value1, Value2, ...);
If (say) the first field (Value1) is an AutoNumber, what value can you put
that will preserve the auto-increment function?
