Access Query Critera, select from a table

1 New Member
I am trying to set up a query to create a popup box when it is run that has a combo box in it so that the user can choose the critera from a table that have already set up. (In this case it is a list of names). I cannot seem to get this done, and I am not very good at coding, and cannot find a wizard or a help article for this, although I would think that there would be. I am using Access 2000.

Any ideas?

Thanks,

DB.

The regular approach is to define a parameter and let the user enter the value at runtime. This parameter popup can't handle a combobox.

One option you have is to create a form with a combobox and use the value of that combobox in the query as the input for the criteria.
Another option would be to add a "SelectYN" field to the table the combo's based on and let the user set this field for the entrie(s) he wants to see. This will allow multiple selections and for the query a simple JOIN with this table and a test for the "SelectYN" field to be True.

Idea ?

Helpful folks, Most of my previous experience with DB2 was on s390 mainframe systems and the optimizer on this platform always seemed very predictable and consistent. Since moving to a WinNT/UDB 7.2 environment, the choices the optimizer makes often seem flaky. But this last example really floored me. I was hoping someone could explain why I get worse response time when the optimizer uses two indexes, than when it uses one. Some context:

I use Access to run reports from various pieces of financial data. The one query that I have been unable to produce, but need is the following: A query that yields all accounts from a person that has a loan account with us but no deposit account. Luckily, all loan information is kept in a 'loan' table and deposit is kept in a 'deposit' table with a few common fields such as account number.

Currently I am using this statement to translate 3 fields in my db thru Visual Basic. I import the data from one table to another then call the IFF statements and the NewDate to translate the fields. Can this be done in an Access db? I am trying to learn how to do these things in Access vs Visual Dim strIIF As String Dim sstrIIF As String Dim strNewDate As Date

Hello. I have a question concerning variable criteria for queries and reading forms. Let's say that I have a table with 2 fields and 10 records. One of the fields can have two different values: A or B. Then let's say that I've designed a slpit form. The right side of the form allows for data entry while the left side allows for record filtering.

I am using a table, called 'dashboard', to track employee evaluations. There are many columns in the table, some of which are populated with one of four responses: "Meets Expectations", "Below Expectations", "Not Observed", "Policy Violation" I would like to create a query that will search for any employee that has two "Below Expectations" in the SAME column in a span of 30 days.

Hey guys, I have been mulling over this problem for a few days and have yet to come up with a query that will give me the expected results. I am working on a database that stores employee information, and my boss has asked me to add a component that will keep track of job vacancies as well. I have 6 tables that are all linked: Table: Employee 1. ID; Text; PK 2. ... (the rest are irrelevant to the query) Table: EmplStatus (linked to...

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own.... Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...

Hello I'm a network technician in training and I need your help. I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs. The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols. I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
