Problem Opening Excel Spreadsheet When Using Access command Button (VB

2 New Member
Hi

Access 2002

I have a Command Buton using some VB code to open an Excel spreadsheet.

However, when the spreadsheet opens it doesn't refresh the data. The spreadsheet is a pivot table which obtains data from the Access database and I have set the refresh on open option in the pivot table options.

Am i missing something in the code ?

Any help would be appreciated.

Private Sub Command12_Click ()
On Error GoTo Err_Command12_C lick

Dim oApp As Object

Set oApp = CreateObject("E xcel.Applicatio n")
oApp.Visible = True

'Only XL 97 supports UserControl Property
On Error Resume Next
oApp.UserContro l = True

oApp.Workbooks. Open ("C:\Data\Produ ctivity.xls")

Exit_Command12_ Click:
Exit Sub

Err_Command12_C lick:
MsgBox Err.Description
Resume Exit_Command12_ Click

End Sub

If you open it manually does it refresh? If so, use FollowHyperlink instead of that block of code. Actually, use FollowHyperlink anyways, easier.

There is an Access table on the network. 15 users who do not have Access are connected to the network. Is there a way for each user to be able to enter one or more rows containing 3 or 4 columns to Excel on his machine and then press a button or something and append that data to the Access table on the network? Any suggestions on what the code would be? Thank you very much! Martin

When importing excel from access I am fully aware that one can import directly into a table. Can you get as specific via code or something to import data from an excel sheet to a FORM (Not Table) through a command button. For example: cell C5 on the selected excel spread sheet = textbox2 in the current form. This is for a service repair type database. The service technicians work out in the field and currently create their service orders...

I am trying to import an excel file into Access 97. It looks perfectly all right but, every time I try to import it, I get to the lst step and am told that it was not imported due to an error. There is no further explanation. What are the kinds of things that make this happen? Thanks from an obvious rookie. Gordon

I am somewhat familar with access, but have no clue to modules and coding. I am trying to develop code or a module that will enable a user to import a specific excel spreadsheet and its' data into a table by pressing a command button. I am able to import excel, however it will not attach to existing spreadsheet. I find myself, having to build an append query for each import which is time consuming and inefficient. I have already checked, my...

Hello folks, I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>". The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed. This is as boiled down as I can make it. Here is my compilation command: g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp Here is the code in...

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own.... Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...
