Does anyone know how to use VBA to relink tables between two MS Access
databases? We have two databases, one with VBA code and the other with
data tables. The tables are referenced by linked tables in the database
where the code resides. If we move the database with the data tables to
a new directory, the links are no longer valid.
I tried to update the links by changing the Connect property and refreshing:
Set td = db.TableDefs(0)...

Hi All,
I've got a situation where I am developing an Access 97 app for a client,
and am in the "beta testing" stage.
I have split the app up, using the DB splitter, into front-end /back-end
for the usual reason ... so I can mess with form/report revisions. Since
splitting, I've had issues with re-linking the tables ... as it relates to
the completetely different "My Documents"
data paths on several different Win98 / Win XP computers.

Hello there,
I have a front end database that I have recently made very many changes
to to allow off-line use. I keep copies of the databases on my hard
drive and link to them rather than the live databases on the network.
Is there a way, via code, when I get back in-house from being on the
road to click a button, and select the backends I want to link to?
I would want to delete all the current links and link to the "live"

I've been struggling with this problem for some time and have tried
multiple solutions with no luck.
Let me start with, I'm a novice at Access and I'm not looking for
someones help to design my database, just help in getting me pointed in
the right direction.
I have a database with 8 tables, which from what I have read, cannot be
linked on a single form, and be updatable. I have created a query
which includes all 8 tables, and then...

Hi,
I found some examples for storing the FormSettings of a Form in an XML-file,
but none of these could match my criteria: What I am looking for is the
possibility to save the FormSettings of multiple Instances of 1 form.
I have a Form frmSource from which I have multiple Instances, each with a
unique Identifier. So when I Load or Close a specific instance, I want to
load or save the Settings (Top, Height, Width, etc) in an XML-file....

Quite awile ago I posted to this newsgroup in regards to using Datasets in
my VB 2005 application. About how many Datasets should be used.. a limit to
the number of tables that should be included in a dataset, etc. The
concensus I was given was that one Dataset should be created per logical set
of data, or approximately 1 Dataset per form (usually consisting of 5 or
less tables).
After finishing 2 projects using VB 2005 and DataSets I...

Hi
I have this database that calculates and stores the incentive amount
earned by employees of a particular department. Each record is
entered
by entering the Date, Shift (morn, eve, or night) and the 'employee
name'. There is another table which assigns an ID to the Shifts, i.e.
1,2 and 3 for morn, eve & night shifts respectively. From the mother
table, the incentive is calculated datewise for each employee as per
his shift duty. In...

Hi all--
Does anyone have any insight as to how I might create a search form that allows a user to select criteria based on any related table in the whole database. The search form I have now only allows me to filter based on variables in a single table. I would like to have a search form where I can select multiple variables (from various linked tables) to filter by, and return results based on this multi-table filter.

Hello folks,
I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>".
The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed.
This is as boiled down as I can make it.
Here is my compilation command:
g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp
Here is the code in...

Dear forum friends,
With the development of smart home technology, a variety of wireless communication protocols have appeared on the market, such as Zigbee, Z-Wave, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, etc. Each protocol has its own unique characteristics and advantages, but as a user who is planning to build a smart home system, I am a bit confused by the choice of these technologies. I'm particularly interested in Zigbee because I've heard it does some...

The next Access Europe User Group meeting will be on Wednesday 1 May 2024 starting at 18:00 UK time (6PM UTC+1) and finishing by 19:30 (7.30PM).
In this session, we are pleased to welcome a new presenter, Adolph Dupré who will be discussing some powerful techniques for using class modules.
He will explain when you may want to use classes instead of User Defined Types (UDT). For example, to manage the data in unbound forms.
Adolph will...

Hello
I'm a network technician in training and I need your help.
I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs.
The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols.
I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
