Access 2007 questions

ARC
I have created a memo field set to allow rich text, and on the form, the box
is also set to rich text. When you highlight text in that field, how do you
allow the user to change the font? The font selections are not enabled, and
I may end up hiding the main ribbon, so do you somehow have to enable a font
dialog?

Also, whenever I have the program running and want to design a form,
frequently I'll get a popup asking if I want to save all, and it lists a
bunch of forms. Can I get this to go away?

Finally, every time I open the project, I get the message about disabling
macors, and untrusted content. I definetely don't want the end-user to see
this.

Many Thanks,

Andy

I have just had a play for half an hour (OK not exactly a beta test!). I must say I was quite underwhelmed. Yea it looks nice, navigating things was bit quirky, but it's only a beta right. AFAIK, the ribbon was designed primarily for Word and Excel users so no breathtaking new Access features, just a fancy new UI as far as I can see. And still after half an hour I still can't find the bloody database window! A few questions/observations:...

If you are looking for opinon on what's useful in Access 2007, there's a new article at: http://allenbrowne.com/Access2007.html Covers what's good (useful features), what's mixed (good and bad), what's gone (features removed), what's fixed (old issues solved), what's broken (new bugs), configuration, compatibility, should you buy, and links. It is opinion, so you may disagree, but hopefully it's an informative summary.

Just found out that the Microsoft Rich Textbox does not support full text justification, since it's based on Version 1.0 of the RichEdit Window Class, and full text justification is only available in versions 3.0 or later of the class. However, also just found out that the new Rich Text property in Access 2007 ALSO does not support full text justification! This seems incredible, that MS would create a brand new application, and not...

I have an Access 2000 database behind a threaded Java application that that can have have concurrent access to the same table (but not the same record). The database is set up for shared access with "No locks" as the default, so that optimistic record locking should take place, and "Open databases using record-level locking" is selected. Each Java thread gets a new connection to the database, then updates its record. One of my users has...

I'm currently looking at the access developer extensions for creating an MSI installer package for a 2007 runtime app. Couple of observations and questions. 1) Doesn't look like we have the ability to set a packaged file to always overwrite, or never overwrite, unless I'm missing something. This could be a sticking point, as I would always want the program to overwrite on re-installing, but NEVER the back end database. I have a few more...

Hello all, My system was recently "upgraded" to MS Office 2007 and now I am having a really frustrating time trying to get my simple command button to open a query. This is the same database I posted a couple of questions about back in January. The VBA code for the two combo boxes and the subsequent command button is as follows: Private Sub route_combo_AfterUpdate() Me.timepoint_combo.Requery End Sub

Hi !! I'm about to develop a new project for a client. Should I go about it in Access 2003 or 2007 ? Purchasing it either for me or for my client is not a major consideration here ... what I'd like to know is the stability, speed & ease of use of both the products. I believe Access 2007 has a new file format too and that it may be slower.

We have set up a function as listed below to display a custom toolbar used to export data from the report. The function is called from the open event of each report: Function CBShowPrint() Application.CommandBars("BranchPrint").Enabled = True Application.CommandBars("BranchPrint").Visible = True End Function We recently converted from Access 2003 to Access 2007. (The custom toolbar was created in Access 2003. There...

Hi, I'd created a MDE under Access 2003. It is now under testing stage. Some of the users will use Access 2003 runtime and some will use Access 2007 runtime to run this MDE. I installed the Access 2007 runtime on a test machine and place the MDE in the Desktop for user's initial testing. I did not create a trust area for this MDE in the test machine as well as in my development machine. When I tested the MDE using /runtime switch in my...

Most computers default to English, but sometimes we require a different language, especially when relocating. Forgot to request a specific language before your computer shipped? No problem! You can effortlessly switch the default language on Windows 10 without reinstalling. I'll walk you through it. First, let's disable language synchronization. With a Microsoft account, language settings sync across devices. To prevent any complications,...

Hello folks, I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>". The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed. This is as boiled down as I can make it. Here is my compilation command: g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp Here is the code in...

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Dear forum friends, With the development of smart home technology, a variety of wireless communication protocols have appeared on the market, such as Zigbee, Z-Wave, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, etc. Each protocol has its own unique characteristics and advantages, but as a user who is planning to build a smart home system, I am a bit confused by the choice of these technologies. I'm particularly interested in Zigbee because I've heard it does some...
