Cannot Debug Code

2 New Member
I am just getting back into Access, I am trying to work with an inhouse Access Database System, Access 2002, XP.

Please note I have yet to do anything with this system but to print out the tables and code.

Problem: I can get to the code behind one of the forms, but I can edit it, whenever I choose any of the Debug Features nothing happens, it's as though I did not select anything to do.

Suggestions?

You have to set up a break point at the line of code you want to stop at and then trigger the event that runs the code.

Yes, that is if I want to have the execution of the code to stop at a particular line of code, but I can't even get the execution to start.

Really? Did you change the name of the controls? The name of the subs? Does the control's event property say [Event Procedure]? What about your security setting? Did you disable macros?

Which code do you want to start?
The code is usually started by triggering events from within the Access database itself (Opening forms, etc). If this is still not causing the code to work then you probably have your security (Tools / Macro / Security) set so that code cannot execute.
This setting is stored on the PC itself (rather than any particular database).

Does anyone know of some good resources to use when troubleshooting why one cannot debug ASP.NET apps? I am using Win2K pro SP4 (IIS 5) on a brand new machine and I cannot debug even the most simple ASP.NET app on my localhost. I have read through all kinds of MS KB articles on this issue and checked out a document on gotdotnet.com titled "howtosolvedebuggerproblems.doc" to no avail. My exact error message when I try to debug is: "Error...

When try to run debug, there is a dialog say "HEAP: Heap block at ... modified at ... past requested size of 1 Windows has triggered a breakpoint in TestBug.exe. This may be due to a corruption of the heap, and indicates a bug in TestBug.exe or any of the DLLs it has loaded. The output window may have more diagnostic information"

OK, I've looked up this message but am not finding how to get rid of it: "Cannot evaluate expression because a thread is stopped at a point where garbage collection is impossible, possibly because the code is optimized" I'm trying to debug, and it's rather difficult when I can't find the values of expressions because of whatever is causing this message. Is there anyone that can tell me what I can do to get rid of it? How do I...

I tried to put an "on error" statement in a routine and got the message that I cannot user "on error" and a lamda or query expression in the same routine. Help does not list anything useful for explaining a "lamda" expression and so I don't know what one is and I am not doing any database stuff in the entire program. So what does this error message really mean and what can I do to get an On Error into the routine?

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own.... Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...
