adding a subform to a form....getting errors on the link

I went into relationships and set the link between the 2 tables
and its 1 to many everything ok.
I take a subform and add it as a subform onto form1
the wizard asks about link child and master and its ID3
fine.

but when you add a record into the parent form no id shows up in ID3
of the subform.
when you select the subform and click on link master or child it says
ERROR
Object variable or with block variable not set.

how can this be?
I know I screwed up something but I have never had an error linking
tables.

(ok maybe one LOL)

Hi everyone! In Access 97, I have a parent form and a subform that are both based on the same query. The main form is continuous and serves up a summary for each record. The subform provides details on the record and is linked to the parent record via an autonumber ID. My users want to be able to add new records to the table underlying...

In my database, I have a form with a subform. I had everything working correctly - the correct records would display on the subform for each record on the form. I could edit, add, and delete on the subform. I added a field to my table, and modified the design of my subform. Now, data is not getting displayed on the subform for any form...

I have built a database with a <Mainform> and a <Subform>. My problem is twofold. 1. My subform is set as a continuos form with AllowAddiotions set to NO (ie. a list of Issues to the client on the mainform) 2. To add new issues, a button is used and a pop-up form is used to add an issue with more detail than what's available on the...

I have a subform which represents a 1:N relationship with the main form. I would like to be able to read values from an external file, fill the subform with the values read & allow the user to view/edit the values via the subform. I thought this would be accomplished using a simple loop; read values, assign the various fields of the...

I have a subform which is causing a 3314 (Field can't contain a null value because required is set to True) error. I solved this problem by trapping it in the before update event. But then I started getting a "No Current Record" error. I wanted to see what err number was coming through, so I put a MsgBox in the subform's error event. But the...

Hi everyone, I have been updating a file that uses a main form that contains a subform (as a datasheet). The main form really does not do anything on opening except maximizes to the users screen size. The subform however runs an "embedded" query (cause I don't know the right term) to show a list of records based on the embedded query. ...

Hello folks, I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>". Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then...
