1 Excel spreadsheet linked to 3 databases

Good afternoon,

I am not the most informative when it comes to Microsoft Access. I
have a user that is using Access 2003 and has 1 excel spreadsheet
linked to 3 different databases. They are only able to have one of
the databases open at a time. When someone is using one of the
databases associated to the spreadsheet and another user tries to
access one of the other linked databases then they just get an error
stating that the file is already opened. It won't let them view the
database read only or anything.

Does anyone know if there is a way around this to where more than one
user can be accessing the other 2 databases associated with this
spreadsheet even when one of the other linked databases is open?

Thanks,
Josh

You'll have to show the code of how they are using Excel to open the
Access Databases.

Are you sure that it is not the spreadsheet that you are getting the
error message on.

Typically, spreadsheets will only allow 1 user in at a time and that
is the message you get for the spreadsheet.

Hey, I can say I belong to the newbies in this subject. I own my own website with mySQL-databases, but now I have to show one table of those mySQL-databases in an excel worksheet. It is the intention that the user opens the excel-file trough the browser, so I hope there does not have to be installed anything on the clients machine... (I looked at that MyODBC but I don't understand it 100 % yet, I'm newbie hey). It would be very nice if...

I had previously posted this in an Access forum with negative results so will try here. Although this question specifies an Access database, I also wish to accomplish this with a large MS SQL Server database that we have. Question follows: The following SQL statement, used in VBScript,

I have a VBA subroutine that links an MS Excel spreadsheet and copies the data into a local table. This process is controlled by a form that allows users to select the spreadsheet from the file system. I actually import from two different named ranges from each workbook so for every import the following subroutine is used twice. The database is used to collate data collected from different surveys entered by remote users into an Excel...

Hi, I have gone throught the group and Microsoft's online help and have seen many suggestions but I am still seeking clarity: 1. I have an excel spreadsheet. Column A contains text that may be greater than 255 characters. 2. I have an access database. I link (not import) to the contents of the excel spreadsheet. In the design view in access, Column A has the data type "memo".

Hello again: My second question is: I am linking an excel spreadsheet into Access, I have it linked and at first had problems getting the information imported into Access-it wasn't importing-I had a msg in the populated fields which read #NUM- I was told to use quotations before and after the numbers in Excel and it would import correctly, which did happen but when I run my query off that linked table, it creates far too many...

Hello, I've recently been asked to work with Microsoft Access, and while I feel quite comfortable with Excel, I'm at a complete loss with databases. If someone could help me with this issue I'm having I'd be most appreciative. The database is already constructed, I'm just wanting to export the data to an excel file. In short, I'm hoping to export two Tables (or queries...not sure which to use - they both seem to have the same data) in...

Can an Excel spreadsheet or a section of one be embedded into an Access form and serve as a subform from which other parts of the Access form can get data? Thanks!

Hey guys, I am trying to import data from an Excel spreadsheet into my SQL database. I am running SQL 2005. I following Microsoft's instructions for creating a linked server, and it appeared to work. However when I run this query: SELECT * INTO test FROM OPENQUERY(EFORMS, 'SELECT * FROM ')

Problem for Excel Developers One of the problems facing Excel developers moving into MS Access is actually the apparent similarity between MS Access tables and Excel spreadsheets. MS Access is NOT Excel This similarity of the “look” in both programs, the layout of the data, leads to the Excel developer mistakenly thinking that a database works in a similar way to a spreadsheet. Flat File Database Spreadsheets are very sophisticated...

Hello folks, I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>". The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed. This is as boiled down as I can make it. Here is my compilation command: g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp Here is the code in...

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Dear forum friends, With the development of smart home technology, a variety of wireless communication protocols have appeared on the market, such as Zigbee, Z-Wave, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, etc. Each protocol has its own unique characteristics and advantages, but as a user who is planning to build a smart home system, I am a bit confused by the choice of these technologies. I'm particularly interested in Zigbee because I've heard it does some...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own.... Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...

Hello I'm a network technician in training and I need your help. I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs. The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols. I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
