run the associated application for a file from access vba

Hi Everyone,
I have a work order database . I am trying to allow user's to attach files
to the workorder (ie cad dwq's , text files , pdfs, pictures etc) I have the
attachment logic resolved but now I want to go to the workorder and open any
selected attachment from access using the associate application( ie .txt run
notepad with the txt file as the file it opens , run adobe's reader when the
file has a .pdf extension etc).
I haven't been able to find anything on the web or in my reference books.

Hi, I know that to launch an application that is associated with a particular file I can use Process.Start(filename), but that assumes the file physically exists somewhere. My problem is I already have the contents of the file in memory (read from a DB) and it seems a bit redundant to write the data to a temp file just so Process.Start can...
