reporting madness

4 New Member
hi ya,

i have set up a database with a section to print reports as per the requirments of the project. the project is to manage environemental weed management across a wide area. As the area is so large it has been broken up into infestation zones with sites nested within.

My problem relates to the production of reports. I have produced reports that will accumulate all works conducted within an infestation zone and give back associated data such as money spent, chemicals, area treated, etc.

Unfortunately the report doesn't have all the info in it, some sites have just slipped past the radar despite being assocaited with an infestation zone.

I checked the association by looking at the tables and i can see that these sites are within the infestation zone.

Starting to pull out my hair in frustratuion.

Is there any well known problem with reports and access 2000?

Hard to tell from a distance, but the first thing that comes to mind is that you have missing data on the lowest level.
When there are no records for the detail level and you JOIN a main table with the subtable, then the missing rows will suppress the maintable rows.
Only a LEFT (or RIGHT) join will make them visible.
In the graphical query editor double click the connection line between your tables and chose option 2 or 3 making the required table "leading".

When still in trouble, posting the report's query might help.

Thanks Nic,

I have looked into the relationships and it doesn't seem to be the problem all sites are referenced with an infestation zone. you mentioned posting the code of the query. This may be the problem as my report isn't based on a query rather just a compliation of data across tables, some subreports are based on queries as they need area calculations.

Is it necessary to base a report on a query? another intersting delima is that other reports i have created based upon species or site or agency as opposed to the infestation zone, all work fine, i really don't know whats happening

The report may be based on :
1 A table.
2 A QueryDef (Query)
3 Some SQL string.

Please post the following depending on above :
If 1, The layout of table giving field names and types.
If 2, The SQL of the QueryDef (found by designing query and switching to SQL view).
If 3, The SQL string itself.

I am developing a GUI that uses multiple threading.Threads, and Queue.Queues for communicating between the threads, and threading.Timers for checking the queues. Everything works well (runs to completion and exits) on my RedHat7.3 machine, but it doesn't work (hangs like some thread or queue is blocking)on RH9. However, when I ssh into the RH9 box from my RH7.3 box, the app runs fine(on my RH7.3 screen). Now the madness sets...

Hi My users, use ms access for querying and reporting on a backend database, however they need to replace ms access with a new reporting tool. I’m thinking of developing my own reporting engine in C# to replace the existing ms access model. Are there any c# reporting application samples that I could look at to get started?

I am asking this question here because I asked this question in the Reporting Services Newsgroup and did not get an answer. Does anyone know if Reporting Services is intended to work in a client/Server or Local machine environment? Based on what I have seen my guess is yes but that is a guess. In some materal it talks about it running on a web server but my supposition is that this does not necessarily mean that it would not make for a...

Took a look at all the fuss about "lambda expressions" from Jon Skeet's excellent book "C# in Depth". Jon has an example, reproduced below (excerpt) on lambda expressions. My n00b take: it's like SQL and those 'high level' languages that try to be too clever by half and pack a lot of syntax in as short a space as possible. Like Egyptian hieroglyphics, like Chinese, like those non-alphabet languages, it's just way too much information...

Hello folks, I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>". The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed. This is as boiled down as I can make it. Here is my compilation command: g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp Here is the code in...

Dear forum friends, With the development of smart home technology, a variety of wireless communication protocols have appeared on the market, such as Zigbee, Z-Wave, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, etc. Each protocol has its own unique characteristics and advantages, but as a user who is planning to build a smart home system, I am a bit confused by the choice of these technologies. Hello I'm a network technician in training and I need your help. I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs. The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols. I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
