how to save data entry on button click only

65 New Member
Hello,

I would like to make a data entry form that does not save values until "save" is clicked. This is because sometimes the form may be opened by accident and it automatically creates a blank entry. I have read that this should be done in the before update event of the form. Would this be easier to do if the form were unbound? I am just looking for any suggestions to the easiest solution.

Thanks for your time on this newb question

I would think that unbound controls would be required.
OnClick of the Save button you have a choice.
1. Execute an INSERT INTO query for the record on the form.
2. Write some ADODB or DAO code to add the record.

Hi, I have a Website which allows users to input data. After they finished entering data they can click a button to save their input. Problem now is, that I have no possibility to visualize that the page is being saved and when it is (hopefully) done saving. I thought about a modal window being opened using JavaScript when they click the save button telling them that the data is being saved. After saving is completed I could use...

Hi, I'm wondering if anyone can help me with AJAX in ASP.NET 1.1. I have a very specific feature that I would like to use it for. I have a rather long form that the users use to enter data during a phone call with a client. Since it's long, I put six Save buttons down the length of the form and asked the users to save often. When they click the Save buttons, the data is saved to a central database and a text label is changed to say...

Hello all, This is my first attempt at an application, so kid gloves are appreciated. I need to make a very simple form that only has a few elements. One is TraceCode - a text field that is populated when a user scans a label. The other is ScanDate - a date/time field that should equal the date/time of the scan (e.g. 7/31/2006 5:00:00 AM).

I Have created a table for data entry. The table and accompanying form used to enter data is used for returning leased assets back to a lease holder. My question is this: I want to script a Save and Clear Button on my data entry form to write the data back to the table so that I can run reports against the table & clear the form for the next item to be entered. I do not want the data to be visible to the user once the button is pressed. Here is...

I have a form with 6 subforms in Access 2003 with two command buttons at the bottom of the form. When I add data into 2 of the forms and click "Exit with No Save" these two forms retain their data. However, one of the subforms is entirely comprised of Check boxes and when I open an existing record and click on any of the boxes the main form closes but retains the data of only the first one selected. The other subform has an attachment command...

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Hello I'm a network technician in training and I need your help. I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs. The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols. I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
