Hello all
Would it be possible to migrate the MS Access 2000 to MS SQL Server
2000?
My application is using MS Access 2000 as database and as user
interface such as forms. Now, I want to migrate the backend database
from MS Access 2000 to MS SQL Server 2000. However, I want to keep the
MS Access 2000 interface. Would it be possible?

Is there a way to force the user of a database to exit and close access
through a close button on for example a switchboard menu?
If a user closes access by the exit command or the close button on access,
this will prevent certain housekeeping routines to function unless thay quit
through the database. Another alternative would be to also hook these
functions to the close button on access or the exit command (file menu).
Thank you in...

Hello, I'm looking for assistance with the Access object model. I know
this is VB, but I'm building an Office Add-using C# directed at Access
2002. I'm literate in VB, so you can reply in VB... I think my problem
mainly lies in knowing the quirks of the Access object model.
Basically, I'm looking for a method of determining if an Access database
is open yet. AND I'm looking for a method that doesn't not require
checking for an...

Hello experts out there,
I would like my Access application automatically closes completely
after 30 minutes of "No Activities" so we can save resource. If the
user is still scrolling or clicking, the time should be restarted from
that time and starts counting for 30 minutes if there is no
activities. It has a SQL back-end.
Thanks in advance for any suggestions,
James

SQL Server will be used as the back-end database to a non trivial client
application.
In question is the choice of client application:
I need to be able to speak intelligently about when one client (MS Access vs
..NET Windows Forms) would be preferred over the other. While I have some
good arguments on both sides, I would appreciate your points of view on the
topic.

The Reps team have been experiencing that Access 2002 unexpectedly
quits
while working and also lots of Corruption Failures and "Record lock
can not
update" messages since the upgrade from Windows 2000 and Access 200 to
Windows XP and Access 2002 (XP) was done.
Now, they are working and at anytime in anywhere of the application
access
unexpectedly quits with no error messages and the info that was being
entered

Does anyone know why my database sometimes closes on its own for no apparent reason? I don't think it has anything to do with my code because, as an example of when it closed on me, I was entering data on a form with a subform. I entered data for about 15 records and it worked absolutely fine, then I clicked next record as I did previously, and the entire database closed on me. I was having this problem before when I was trying to open the...

On a SQL Server 2000 db I would like to setup a stored procedure that
accesses couple tables and runs the extended stored procedure
xp..cmdshell. The goal is to grant users with limited privileges the
right to run the stored procedure but not the rights to directly
access either the referenced tables or the extended stored procedure.
TIA!

Hi! We have a VB application using Crystal Reports 6 that has worked
successfully on hundreds of systems for over 10 years. Now, on one
network, the application and access database does not close. It seems
to hang on the command.
When we open the application an peruse the screens without opening up
a report (using crystal reports), the application and access db closes
fine. But as soon as we run a report and then close the report and...

Hello folks,
I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>".
The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed.
This is as boiled down as I can make it.
Here is my compilation command:
g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp
Here is the code in...

Overview:
Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Dear forum friends,
With the development of smart home technology, a variety of wireless communication protocols have appeared on the market, such as Zigbee, Z-Wave, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, etc. Each protocol has its own unique characteristics and advantages, but as a user who is planning to build a smart home system, I am a bit confused by the choice of these technologies. I'm particularly interested in Zigbee because I've heard it does some...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own....
Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...

Hello
I'm a network technician in training and I need your help.
I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs.
The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols.
I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
