I heard that beta 2 now makes ASP.NET xhtml compliant.
Can anyone shed some light on what this will change and it will break stuff
as converting HTML to XHTML pages DO break things. see,

I read on
http://msdn.microsoft.com/netframework/default.aspx?pull=/library/en-us/dnnetdep/html/netfxcompat.asp
It said they changed stuff like this

Hello,
I know nothing about C++ but want to get started.
Is there any good free C++ program that I can try to see if I like
programming? I also need a good free compiler. I don't want to
purchased the regular VB C++ until I know that I will like it.

Now, I don't mean that it's stupid in general. I'm actually pretty impressed
with the whole MS Networking thing, but there's one stupid thing that keeps
getting in my way, and I can't believe no one has fixed it by now in Windows
200x with its fancy Active Directory and other bells and whistles.
When I'm working on a workstation on the network, and I have a file open, then
the workstation crashes, the server keeps the bloody file open! ...

Hi there,
After spending several hours trying all I could imagine and search for in
Google I gave up. In a continuous form I want to sort the choosen column by
clicking the header (label) of that column. I even want to sort up and down
if one clicks again on the same header. No problem so far, all works well
for one column. Now I want to sort on the first choosen column ASC or DESC
and additionally on a second column ASC.
I use the...

Hello everyone,
I am a plenty silly person who is trying to
learn .NET remoting through trial and error (all articles I read are going
over my head at the moment (mostly) so I thought i'd give it a go).
What I want to do is this:
Have a server instance of the program, this server instance will receive
communication from client programs (as demonstrated in the AddMessage()

I have posted this and similar questions repeatedly and can't even raise
a single response. I am being led to believe that this then 'Must be a
stupid question' although people say that there is no stupid question.
Is that another for political correctness
I am attempting an install of 7.4.3 on FreeBSD O/S 4.9, apparently
remnants of 7.3.x are scattered around on the disk from (a) previous
ports installation, causing mutex_lock/unlock,...

We get more and more data done in excel and then they want it imported
into access.
The data is just stupid....values of 1 to 5 we get a lot of 0's ok
that alright but 1-jan ?
we get colums that are formatted for number and then half way down
they are changed to text.
OR the famous ok now everything in red is ---- and everything in blue
is---------. WTF are these people thinking?

Work at a large site - 1000+ PC's. Mixture of Win98 & WinXP. Majority of
applications using Access 97.
If I compile the Acc97 application on a Win98 PC, the .mde will run
perfectly on both Win98 and WinXP PC's. However, if I compile on a WinXP
PC, the application doesn't run correctly on Win98 PC's.
While I guess a Windows issue, does anyone know the offending files and even
better, how to resolve it ? Otherwise I need to...

I know this is a *really* stupid question but what the hell is visual
c++? I downloaded it and it doesn't seem to work. It isn't like any c++
compiler I ever saw before and the manual on the Microsoft website did
not improve my comprehension of it at all. How do you compile your
source code with this thing? Is it a compiler at all? Am I crazy?
I know it would probably take too much time to answer my dumb questions
here but if you can...

Most computers default to English, but sometimes we require a different language, especially when relocating. Forgot to request a specific language before your computer shipped? No problem! You can effortlessly switch the default language on Windows 10 without reinstalling. I'll walk you through it.
First, let's disable language synchronization. With a Microsoft account, language settings sync across devices. To prevent any complications,...

Hello folks,
I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>".
The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed.
This is as boiled down as I can make it.
Here is my compilation command:
g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp
Here is the code in...

Overview:
Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Dear forum friends,
With the development of smart home technology, a variety of wireless communication protocols have appeared on the market, such as Zigbee, Z-Wave, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, etc. Each protocol has its own unique characteristics and advantages, but as a user who is planning to build a smart home system, I am a bit confused by the choice of these technologies. I'm particularly interested in Zigbee because I've heard it does some...
