filter or "jump to" feature

Hello and thanks for previous help. Still pretty new to this (KISS), but
learning...

I have a table with a list of athletes, an autoID unique #, parents, address,
phone #'s. I have a second table which holds information about injuries which
occur in the season, which has athleteID (from previous table), location of
injury, etc; this data is entered via a form.

The problem is now that my list of athletes is growing (will be 600 or so),
it is too cumbersome to look through that whole list (via lookup box) to find
the particular athlete I want when entering the injury data. So, is there a
way to begin typing in the athlete ID box on the injury form, and have it
jump to the place in the list which correlates? (like entering your state on
a web form-->typing in "N" pulls up NC, etc)? Or perhaps there is a better
way altogether??

THANKS FOR YOUR HELP!!!!!!

Brian

The current athlete ID box you have is bound to that field in the table so
if you start typing in it you are CHANGING whatever record you are
positioned at (not what you want).

A second unbound ComboBox for navigatiing is what you want and the ComboBox
wizard will build this exact thing for you. Just drop a new ComboBox onto
your form making sure the Toolbox wizard is turned on and take the third
option in the wizard. It will be labelled "Find a record on my form based
on the value I selected in my combo box".

There seems to be a fair amount of discussion concerning flow control enhancements lately. with, do and dowhile, case, etc... So here's my flow control suggestion. ;-) It occurred to me (a few weeks ago while trying to find the best way to form a if-elif-else block, that on a very general level, an 'also' statement might be useful. So I was wondering what others would think of it.

(as formerly posted to microsoft.public.access.forms with no result) I've created a continuous form which is based on a straightforward table (ex - customers - 100 records). On the form there is a checkbox with a control source named "MARK" (boolean) from customer table. I can check and uncheck individual records fine. Then I created 2 command buttons named "Select All" and "Deselect All". The Onclick property of these buttons runs code...

C/C++ language proposal: Change the 'case expression' from "integral constant-expression" to "integral expression" The C++ Standard (ISO/IEC 14882, Second edition, 2003-10-15) says under 6.4.2(2) : case constant-expression : I propose that the case expression of the switch statement be changed from "integral constant-expression" to "integral expression".

Most computers default to English, but sometimes we require a different language, especially when relocating. Forgot to request a specific language before your computer shipped? No problem! You can effortlessly switch the default language on Windows 10 without reinstalling. I'll walk you through it. First, let's disable language synchronization. With a Microsoft account, language settings sync across devices. To prevent any complications,...

Hello folks, I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>". The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed. This is as boiled down as I can make it. Here is my compilation command: g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp Here is the code in...

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Dear forum friends, With the development of smart home technology, a variety of wireless communication protocols have appeared on the market, such as Zigbee, Z-Wave, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, etc. Each protocol has its own unique characteristics and advantages, but as a user who is planning to build a smart home system, I am a bit confused by the choice of these technologies. I'm particularly interested in Zigbee because I've heard it does some...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own.... Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...
