Command Line parms for self-extracting files?

Sorry if this double-posts...Google doesn't do a very good job of
communicating whether something has posted or not.

Using Access 97, WindowsXP

Is there a way to pass command line parameters (such as password and
extract path) when opening a WinZip self-extracting file on a machine
that does not have WinZip installed?

I've seen in other threads where the Shell command is used to call the
WinZip program and pass the .zip filenames, password, extract path,
etc. as a parameters. This assumes that a command line add-in has been
applied to the WinZip program on the machine. But the ones I'm dealing
with are .exe files that contain both the the .zip files and the
self-extract program. There is no WinZip program on the machine to
which an add-in can be applied.

Unfortunately, loading WinZip (or any other Zip utility) to each
machine is not an option.

Has anyone had to deal with this issue before? Thanks, as always, for
your replies.

If the selfextracting files take command line parameters themselves,
then you can dynamically generate the command line. You should check
documentation in regards to self extracting files. They probably vary
depending on what program created the self extracting file.

Pseudo code:
FullPathFilenam eOfZip = GetFullPath()
ParametersStrin g = GetParameters()

CommandString = FullPathFilenam eOfZip + " " + ParametersStrin g

ExecuteCommand( ComandString)

I'd like to add in the possibility of what if your program tries to
open an *.exe that is not a self extracting file?

The results would be unpredictable, because an exe can do just about
anything it wants to your computer.

I know, questions about Tkinter and threads have been answered very often, but I want to ask anyway. I am using Python 2.2 on a Linux (SuSE Linux 8.1) system. I want to write a server application; like telnet is a client. The user should be able to bind() to a port and wait for a client. The written and recieved data is stored in a Text widget, self.__text. The accept()ing is done in a seperate thread (using the threading module), in...

I'm new to Tkinter programming and am having trouble creating a reusable button bar... I want to be able to feed my class a dictionary of button names and function names, which the class will make. My button bar is implemented a Frame subclass, which takes the button dictionary as an argument and displays the buttons on the screen: class OptionsBar(Frame): def __init__(self, buttonDict, parent=None) Frame.__init__(self, parent)

Hi, I was wondering what would be the most elegant way for creating a Python class wrapper for a command line utility, which takes three types of arguments: 1. options with values (--foo=bar) 2. boolean options (--squibble) 3. data lines (MUNGE:x:y:z:frob)

I have no problem to execute the command, but how to display, in a *real-time* fashion the shell retrun?

Hello, I have four things to ask or to suggest, sorry if they seem basic or already discussed. ------------------- I am still ignorant about Tkinter. This little program, after pressing the "Go" eats more and more RAM, is it normal? Can it be avoided? (In normal programs this is isn't a real problem). ! import Tkinter

The oldDb Command does not support Named Parameters. If I am reading them correctly, the docs say that the order of the parameter should match the order they are declared in the Stored Procedure. When I do this the data ends up in the wrong fields. I am using C# standard with the MSDE. The Stored Procedure is: INSERT INTO dbo.DemoShipments (PTYPE, RequestDate, Company, Dept, Name, JobTitle, Phone, Ext, Addr1, City, State, Zip, email,...

Hi, I'm trying to run a script over unix on a remote machine. In order to automate it, the procedure requests the following: 1. Using SSH connection. 2. Operating a command on the remote machine. 3. Expecting password or (yes/no) request and authorize it. I get an error (I thing that it occures at the last part (3) of the password request).

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...
