I would like to create a search for that is based on the CaseFiles
query and have no idea how to go about this. I would like the user to
be able to search by CaseNumber, FirstName, LastName, or ClientID.
Any help would be much appreciated.

If I understand your correctly, you could use one or more unbound
combobox(es) in the header of a single-record style main form to select &
display a specific case file. Use the toolbox combobox wizard and follow
its prompts to "find a specific record". You could use one of these for
each of the sort/filter criteria you want to use, or more elegantly use a
single combobox and an option group to select which query to use for its
control source.

What I would like is one form the lets the user type in one of the 4
fields. When the user clicks the Search Button it brings up a second
form based on what the user entered.
So if the user enters "Doe" in the last name feild it uses a query to
set the criteria for the LastName feild to "Doe", then runs a form
built on that query that will display all the records for anyone with
the last name "Doe".
Does this make more sense??
What you propose should work, but why not use a simpler approach that use
the same form for search and data entry? Look at the examples in
"Northwinds " or any of the template based MDB's.
