Trouble with order by clause in report

Something is wrong with my report in Access.

In the query for the report I have an order by clause. However, when
I run the report, it comes out in a different order. Is there
something else that controls the report ordering of the detail section
that I am not considering?

Thank you.

Have a look at the Sorting and Grouping property of the report... it
overrides the sort order in the query.

1) Any sort order in the query is irrelevant to the sort order of a
report.
2) The proper place to sort data in a report is in the Report's
Sorting and Grouping dialog.
In Report Design View, click View + Sorting and Grouping.

Hi all I'm not sure ASP is the problem, but my SQL statement seems fine to me. This works fine : strSQL = "SELECT .* FROM _RechPat INNER JOIN NivPatri ON .cod_niv = NivPatri.cod_niv WHERE NivPatri.position=2" set rs = CreateRecordset(strSQL) This doesn't work :

Hello, We have a basic report that prints a customer's name followed by their order detail lines (part#, qty, price, ext price, etc). We setup the detail section to print the rows tightly together like we want. To ensure that all customers appear on the report -- even those without orders -- we use a query to LEFT JOIN the Customer file to...

Have worked for many years with the above both toegther and separately (as in Jet and reports), I was always under the impression that the order by clause of a query had no real bearing on the order of records shown in a report based on the query. Sorting & grouping has to be specified. However, in A2003, I've been working on a large app...

Hello, I have an application that I'm converting to Access 2003 and SQL Server 2005 Express. The application uses extensive use of DAO and the SEEK method on indexes. I'm having an issue when the recordset opens a table. When I write Set rst = db.OpenRecordset("MyTable",dbOpenTable, dbReadOnly) I get an error. I believe it's...

Hey gang, I just created a crosstab query to assist in generating reports for class attendance. When I run the report (using temp hard-coded date constraints), I notice that my column headings are in what seems to be a random order. What I'd like to do (at least on the reporting end), is show the dates from LEFT to RIGHT in ASCENDING...

I have created a database, using Northwind as a foundation. It is used to create purchase orders and analyse costs of various machines for a given period. On a Report, can I change any of the fields in the "Sorting and Grouping Dialog" from within Visual Basic??? Changing the OrderBy property of the Report doesn't change anything, nor does adding an "ORDER BY" clause to the RecordSource SQL Statement. I have a table, named tInventory. It contains a text field called Item. There may be more...

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For...
