I'm trying to link a remote client Access app (through the internet) to
an mdb in a web folder on my web server. The idea is to give users
readOnly access to the web folder mdb, which itself links to SQL Server
2000. Users are not permitted to connect directly to SQL Server
because it's outside our dmz.
I have succesfully created a WebDAV on our Win2003 Server web server
and granted readOnly permission to the users, who are listed in Active
Directory.
I have also succesfully created the web folder (in Network Places on a
Win2000 test client pc) which points to the web folder on the web site.
The web folder itself is visible to the client, but no files
I'm stuck though when I try to map a logical drive to the web folder,
or when I alternatively try to create an odbc connection, on the client
pc.
As I understand it, WebDAV is supposed to expose the files in the web
folder on the web server, and allow file transfers between the two
computers using port 80(http).
Am I wasting my time? Can this be done at all?
Any help would be greatly appreciated!

No.
To be able to link to an Access file you have to be able to browse to it in
the regular file system. In other words if you can't see the file in
Windows Explorer then you can't link to it. That cannot be done over HTTP
as far as I know.

Hallo!
We have troubles (post XP SP2) to open local folders from the web application:
- the web application allows users to select a local file (input type=file)
- the system DOES NOT upload the file but stores the path to the folder containing this file into a
database.
- the path to the local folder is linked as <a href=file:///blablabla/folder>Open folder</a>
- we used to be able to open the folder by clicking on the link above but...

i have split my database and created a code that will look up for the
location of the mdb back end everytime the front end link has change.
i'm wondering if there is a way to just create and INI file to store
the location of database backend. 'cause it's very time consuming
sometimes when u change the front end (i.e. the query, forms, reports,
etc) from other computer and when u update the mdb files from other
machine it will look up again...

I am trying to include two class files into a web service project. The
structure I have is a top level solution and project in a folder and below
that, the web service project in it's own folder. In the top level folder I
have two class files, classA.cs and classB.cs.
In the web service project, I use Add>Existing Item... and browse to select
the files in the parent directory. Unfortunately, when I hit the Open
button in the file...

I have a VB.Net solution, for which I have created a deployment project.
Everything is going good. I find this all pretty slick, by-the-way......
One innocent question.
I have added a users reference in pdf form to the application folder, and
created a shortcut for/to it in the "Users Program Folder". That works great
as well.
Now the kicker...

I just got Access 2003 and have been playing around with it. This whole
macro security thing can be a bit annoying.
Initially, I was able to link to my backends located on a second computer.
Then after I compacted the backends on the other computer and I think I also
tired of the macro security message on Access 2003 and selected to not run
unsafe expressions.
Now I cannot link to the backends on the second computer from the computer...

I create a bookmark of a folder in Windows Explorer and save in my Links
folder. When I click the link from the link bar, it is opened in a new
window.
When I open the link from Favorites->Link->, it opens in the same
Explorer window.
The latter is my desired behavior for the former action. How do I make this
so?
I have veirified T00ls -Folder Options -Browse Folders is set to open in
same window.

Again, I'm new to VB.net and there is something I need help with:
Like (I assume) many of us, over time I want to be able to create some
VB.net classes that I might want to use in more than one Project. So
let's say I've created a Folder called "MyVBNet Classes" to hold these
general-use VB.Net class files that I will eventually associate with
various Projects I create. Now let's imagine I've created a class
called "MyClass.vb" that...

In A2003 one can create a linked table using
File/GetExternalData/Link/Exchange(). It's a nice feature but by and
large fairly useless if I am reading the table structure correctly.
The From & SenderName columns may contain data like joeblow@test.com or
it may simply be Joe Blow. The HasAttachments column may be true or
false but accessing the attachments isn't available if the value is true.
Is there any way this linked table could...

Hello folks,
I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>".
The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed.
This is as boiled down as I can make it.
Here is my compilation command:
g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp
Here is the code in...

Overview:
Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

I'm a network technician in training and I need your help.
I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs.
The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols.
I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
