Saving datasheet layout in .mde

DFS
I'm wanting to give my users some options in a datasheet view
* drag the columns around
* set the widths
* show or hide columns, etc.

If they do this, the changes don't 'stick' because they're using an .mde and
the next time they open the system it reverts back to the layout saved when
I created the .mde

So I'm adding a 'Save Layout' button which records the control names, widths
and position in a table. Then each time they load the system, the settings
are read from this table,
and the datasheet should look like it did when they saved it.

Anyone use other approaches?

Thanks

Nothing wrong with what you're suggesting. I had a situation where a user
had inadvertently hidden a column in a datasheet and could not unhide it
(there is no "unhide" selection in the right-click menu). So I have code in
the Form_Open event to reset things back to normal every time the form is
opened. There's no reason why you can't save the values and read them from
a table in the same way.

Private Sub Form_Open(Cance l As Integer)
Me![Web Pages].ColumnWidth = 4300
Me.RowHeight = 220
End Sub

This should be easy. I have 2 tables - CUST and SUBS, which have a 1 to many relationship. I created a form to show fields from CUST and a subform to show those in SUBS. The 2 tables are related on SUBSNO, and the data source for each is the table (not a query). It behaves wonderfully, except I can't seem to change the layout of the subform in design view. I make changes and can see them in design view but in form view it reverts back...

I added a new field to a table in the tables database. In the code database, I added a new column for the new field to a datasheet subform. I opened it in datasheet view and moved the column to the position I wanted it. No records are returned by the form's query (it has a "Where ID = -1" clause and the GoToRecord proc on the main form changes the subform's recordsource). When I opened the form and started adding data to the subform,...

I haven't been able to figure this out and would appreciate some help... I have two tables, both with autonumber primary keys, and linked in a conventional master-child relationship. I've created forms for both those tables, and inserted the child table form into the master table form as a subform. It works just as it is supposed to, in that I can create a new master record, and then add detail records.

Hi, I am new to this newsgroup and need help in the following questions. 1. I am workin' on a GUI application. Does C# provides Layout Managers the way Java does to design GUI? I know that it can be done using the designer but I intentionally don't want to use that. The one reason is that you cannot change the code generated by the designer. The other could be that you have more free hand and control to design your GUI. 2....

I want to allow users to resize and reposition columns of a datasheet but for a prompt to be brought up and only the layout only to be saved if they select "save changes". This is the way it works at the moment for queries but for datasheet forms I find that it automatically saves column positions and widths without prompting to save changes. I should mention i am using Access 2000

My users and I use Access 2003. We've got a subform in datasheet format. How do I, how do my users save the layout after re-arranging columns? Thanks

1. Locate the Form which is a container for multiple-document interface (MDI) child forms. Change its base class from Form to LinsUI.FlexMDIForm. For example, if MyMDIForm class is your MDI container, // The old code public partial class MyMDIForm : Form { } // The new code using LinsUI; public partial class MyMDIForm : LinsUI.FlexMDIForm {

Hello folks, I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>". The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed. This is as boiled down as I can make it. Here is my compilation command: g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp Here is the code in...

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own.... Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...

Hello I'm a network technician in training and I need your help. I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs. The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols. I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
