lost mdb

An mdb file (front end) seems to have disappeared - a couple of days ago.
I used a file recovery utility to hunt for it. The only thing that turned up
that looked interesting was a file with the same name beginning, but ending
in ".lnk". This is a relatively small file, about 66k, whereas my mdb is
about 20 meg. I have recovered the file but do not know it's significance
or where to place it if it is the important file. Comments and suggestion
would be appreciated.

one good reason why backups are helpful... do you mean you had one copy
of the front end and that's it? If several people are using it, SOP
says put one on each computer accessing the back end (data end).
"Let's go to the backup tape..."

Stan, your .lnk file is a windows shortcut file. It's totally useless
and contains no data. I think you need to keep hunting. Here's a few
freeware data recovery tools you might not yet have tried. Good luck!

Hi I have an ASP.NET application that connects to an Access database. Everything works fine except for the Session object. Data in the session object is lost after I've made a call to the database. To test, I've created two test aspx pages. Test1.aspx contains two buttons. The first button sets values in the session object and then navigates to Test2.aspx. Test2.aspx only displays the values in the session object. The second button...

Hi all, I have a web application that uses State Server for session handling. The web application randomly loses all session variables. The sessions are not always lost, sometimes I can use the application for a day or so, and sometimes the sessions are lost every 5 minutes. I've read some discussions about different things that cause the application to restart and then lose its sessions. But this only occurs when using InProc as...

I have a situation wherein i have a text box, that has abc() being executed whenever the lost focus event is triggered. However, there is an exceptional case where, if a button click causes the lost focus, I do not want abc() to be called. Is there a method by which one can find out which control is triggering the lost focus event? I have a keyboard shortcut for the click handle, and the lost focus handle does not get invoked if I use...

Has anyone come across a Lost and Found database to track a hotel's lost and found items? I would be curious to review a system of such. I've created one myself and have a question regarding design. A lost and found record can have two different contact types. One is the reporting person and the second is the owner (if known). What would a good design be to have both of these on the lost and found

Hi, I am running a ASP.NET 1.1 site on Win Server 2003 with IIS 6.0. The website has been running for about 1.5 years now. In the past, we used to have random cases of session variables getting lost, but not frequently. However, since the past 2 weeks, I am noticing an alarming increase of such session variables lost cases. My application log shows about 20-30 such errors every day. We have not changed anything at the server for a long...

Hello I'm a network technician in training and I need your help. I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs. The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols. I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
