Use not local admin Outlook Fails

Ok, so maybe this is way off the wall...and I realize this is more of a
MS Windows question than an Access question, but here goes...

Is there a way to grant an Access application itself admin rights when
the user is not a local admin on the client machine? An issue comes up
when using Outlook automation that if the user is not the local admin
then the automation code fails.
Thanks,
lq

No, you can't grant an application rights that pertain to a user. Perhaps
you might do something with Windows APIs, but

(1) You would, indeed, have a better chance
of getting an answer about _how_ in one
of the Windows newsgroups, and

(2) I doubt your system administrators would
agree to that kind of thing, even if it can
be done.

Maybe if you described what you want to do using Outlook automation, someone
could suggest an alternative.

No, you can't grant an application rights that pertain to a user.

Well, that's not entirely true. You can use the RunAs service in a
shortcut to run as a user with greater permissions, but the username
and password is going to be visible in the shortcut, so it's not a
very good thing.

But it can be done.

I don't know what the situation is these days with Outlook
automation as I long ago concluded that tying my clients to such an
awful email client was punishment that I wasn't going to inflict on
them.

Used VB.NET (on my client PC) to convert VB6 executable to .NET executable. Placed the .exe file on a network drive on my server. From client, ran .NET Wizards "Trust an Assembly" to make the .exe (on the network drive, on the server) "Full Trust." From the client, double-click on the ..exe (on the network drive, on the server) and it runs fine. So far, so good, but... On the server, where I've installed not VB.NET but .NET

I am running an application that requires "Full Trust" which is declared in the assembly. How do I trap for the System.Security.Policy.PolicyException that is raised by a local machines CAS if its current policy will not allow "Full Trust", ie its running in the Intranet Zone. I am trying to trap the error to advise users to have adm revise policy to permit running the program otherwise a cryptic debug screen is raised.

I'm a C# newbie and have inherited a program that runs at login. Part of the program looks at a text file to see which version is installed and then installs the latest greatest version if needed. In order for this to work, the person logging into the Windows XP desktop needs to have local admin rights on the machine. Is there a way using C# to give the current user the necessary rights, or put them in the local administrators group,...

Hi, We have an inhouse developed VB.NET Windows application which runs successfully only when the user is given a local administrator rights. Without which, it fails to start. There isn't anything reported on the event viewer. Giving the user full access to C:\ drive also doesn't do the trick. Unfortunately, we do not have the code of this application and hence cannot view what the application is trying to access. Note that we have both...

Hello folks, I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>". The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed. This is as boiled down as I can make it. Here is my compilation command: g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp Here is the code in...

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
