Append / Update Query

Hi All,

I have a query to get selected fields from two tables in an SQl server.
I made a make query table to get these data to a table. Whenever there
is a change in the databse (the database get new records every minute!)
I always have to get all these downloaded to my table since it replaces
the table.

Is there a way to get to my current table only the new records from the
server by using a query? my query takes data from two tables.(both
table got several fields which are identical and some fields are not in
both tables)

Thanks

See whether the "Doing Two Things At Once" part of my November, 2003 Access
Answers column for Pinnacle Publication's Smart Access helps.

You can download the column (along with a sample database) for free at

Hi - I am trying to perform a simple append query, with no luck. I have a table (MktPrices) that has the following fields: BondID, PriceDate, Price. The objective is to allow the user to input a date and have the append query create a new record for each BondID, using the input date and the most recent price - which the user can then update on a tabular form. I have created a totals query (qryMostRecentPrice) which selects the most...

hi i have a general question regarding append queries in access 97. each week i need to update my table(tblonlinereg) with new or modified records. firstly, i import the text file into my database and then i create a basic append query that appends the new records to the table(tblonlinereg). this works great if the field is greater than the last record appended ( where: tempID > 198 ) but how would i update/append the modifications...

I want to extract a subset of fields from one table into another the master table has many fields the subset has about half, but still many. Is there a way I can just append the master into the subsets structure and this way only the existing fields in the destination will be filled? That would be great, but it seems that the append query wants you to specify the fields. is there another way around this? I want to do it in code and it...

Hi all I have a database that stores customer records and their associated insurance details. I need to be able to archive any changes made to that record. Currently the user selects 'record change' whenever anything is changed in the details. So I have created an append query for the appropriate tables and stored the details in a new version of the table called 'hsttablename'. This has worked well and I now have a table with all the...

Friends, I would like some help with a code that allows me to run an append query only if a specific field is not already stored into another table. Example. I add a new customer to my database using table1. I type his SSN. The code should check if this SSN is already present in another table (table2). If yes, so the code should skip the append query and just update any modified record included the SSN.

I'm having problem with using DAO recordset to append record into a table and subsequent code to update other tables in a transaction. The MDB is Access 2000 with the latest service pack of JET 4. The system is client/server, multiusers based. The MDBs are using record locking. Here is part of the code: Dim wkSpace As Workspace, db As Database Dim rstTrans As DAO.Recordset Set wkSpace = DBEngine.Workspaces(0)

I have to import a tab-delimited text file daily into Access through a macro. All of the data needs to be added to an existing table. Some of the data already exists but may be updated by the imported text file. I can update the data through an update query or append the entire import table through an append query. Is there a way to combine the two so that I can update existing records and append only new records (without duplicating...

Morning Everyone... I have a table that needs to be append to and also updated. All the fields in the table are populated with data from the text boxes and combo boxes on a form. The Date Submitted defaults to 1/1/00 if the cboSubmittedBox field is "No". Otherwise it is selected from a calendar. The Date Entered field defaults to the current date. There are 3 sets of criteria that need to be checked for the update or append to take place. ...

Hello folks, I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>". The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed. This is as boiled down as I can make it. Here is my compilation command: g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp Here is the code in...

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own.... Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...
