Hi All,
I have a split f/e - b/e setup on my database with RWOP queries on the
front end. The code below gets a PO number(s), and vendor name from a
multi choice list box on another form. It then assigns these values,
plus a new receiving number, to the current form. The SQL string is an
append query that copies select fields from the PO line items table
into the receiving line items table and appends the current receiving
number to...

I have a form that allows users to select criteria for a report. One of
the controls on the form is a multi-select list box. Using the MS
Knowledge Base, I wrote my code to pull the items from the list and
make a querydef for the report. Everything runs great for me but if I
log on as one of my users, I get the "You do not have the necessary
permissions to use the "myquery" object" error. I have given the users
modify permission on this...

I have a split Access 2000 database that I've been asked to secure. The
data is sensitive and users include programmers who are routinely
accessing the data directly, so I plan to remove all permissions from
the tables in the backend and then create RWOP queries to retrieve all
the fields in the tables so users are limited to the column/row access
that I design in these queries.
I also plan to remove permissions for users to create new...

Mmmm. Doing some work with Access security.
Let's say I don't want the users to be able to edit the back end tables
directly. Not because it's a 'high security' application but because they
can do damage. I only want them to access the app through my forms.
So I deny them access rights (talking Access, not NT) to the back end data
tables. Then I use RWOP queries in the forms. This is a standard technique,
no?

Re:Access 2002
If I base my form on an RWOP query, can I dynamically select from an
RWOP query result set to display on the form? Does someone have an
example?
Thanks.

Now that users are handy at importing tables from an Excel spreadsheet, I've
discovered a very dangerous problem.
If the user decides to name the imported table the same name as an existing
table in the database, the Spreadsheet Import Wizard will happily overwrite
the table - and bye-bye database.
Is there a way to prevent this with code? Must I now read the Access
Security FAQ?

I am creating a new database for use within our company, that I'd like
to make reasonably secure (short of a true server based solution). The
back-end of a non-server based database seems to be the biggest
security hole, due to the ease of opening, linking, and/or importing
raw data directly from the back-end database. I've read information
that indicates that locking down the back-end tables to the owner, then
using RWOP queries in the...

I just got Access 2003 and have been playing around with it. This whole
macro security thing can be a bit annoying.
Initially, I was able to link to my backends located on a second computer.
Then after I compacted the backends on the other computer and I think I also
tired of the macro security message on Access 2003 and selected to not run
unsafe expressions.
Now I cannot link to the backends on the second computer from the computer...

Is there a way to check the validity of front-end table links on a
backend file where all permissions to data have been revoked. To get
at the data, the front end uses RWOP queries.
What I'm trying to do is to avoid having to always delete table links
and recreate them at startup since this takes quite awhile.
I know you can try to open a recordset, but this fails because unless
the user is the owner, they have no permissions on the...

Most computers default to English, but sometimes we require a different language, especially when relocating. Forgot to request a specific language before your computer shipped? No problem! You can effortlessly switch the default language on Windows 10 without reinstalling. I'll walk you through it.
First, let's disable language synchronization. With a Microsoft account, language settings sync across devices. To prevent any complications,...

Dear forum friends,
With the development of smart home technology, a variety of wireless communication protocols have appeared on the market, such as Zigbee, Z-Wave, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, etc. Each protocol has its own unique characteristics and advantages, but as a user who is planning to build a smart home system, I am a bit confused by the choice of these technologies. I'm particularly interested in Zigbee because I've heard it does some...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own....
Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...

Hello
I'm a network technician in training and I need your help.
I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs.
The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols.
I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
