ComboBoxes on Subform don't display value until one is clicked.

I am using Access 2000.

My main form has a record source of a table (employeeTbl with key of
[EmployeeID]. It is filtering the record results.

My subform and mainform have the link child/link master set to
[EmployeeID] and the source object is the subform.

My subform record source is a query from another table (vacationTbl).
FYI: I was filtering on the subform, but removed it and replaced with
query because of a bug pointed out by Allen Browne "FilterOn not
set/removed correctly for form and subform combination" at
http://members.iinet.net.au/~allenbrowne/bug-02.html

I populate a combobox on the subform for each subform record. I use
the 'On Enter' event to do this. I also set the value using
'Me.cboMyTest.V alue = MyTestValue' inside the On Enter event. I do not
have a default value set for the cboMyTest combobox property, as it is
populated by a function.

Funny thing is, when the form displays, the comboboxs for each of the
records on the subform doen't have a selected value in them.

When I finally click on a combobox, all of a sudden ALL of the
comboboxes show the first selected value. I would expect for this
value to be selected when the form opens, not after I click on one
combobox.

It is strange, because I deleted the whole subform from the main form,
and then added it back, and the problem went away. But it showed up
again sometime later.

Another strange thing that I have observed is that when the main form
opens, sometimes some of the comboboxes have a value set, and some
don't. Again, deleting the subform and re-adding fixed for awhile.

When I open the subform by itself (without the mainform) all comboboxes
are populated, as I would expect.

What is going on? Am I doing something wrong? If it is access
problem, is there a work around.

Thanks in advance for your help.

I have two subforms within a particular form. The one on top is a datasheet of transactions; the one on the bottom is a summary of totals. I would like to have the datasheet fill the entire parent form until a command button is clicked, then have the datasheet form shrunk to half it's original height and have the totals summary form appear below it. The totals summary sheet, then, would not be visible until the command button is clicked,...

I have a form with a child form. In the child form there is a list of names that can grow quite large. On the parent form I want to display the first name from the child form. I set up a test box that is populated with the code =subfrm_media_review_sec_party.Form!first_name & " " & subfrm_media_review_sec_party.Form!last_name It works except that when I flip through the names it populates the parent form with the name of what ever...

I have a form/subform with the common one-to-many relationship. The form allows user to display records and move to other records via the selector, to add, delete, and edit them, with the related records displayed in the subform going along for the ride. The parent form's recordset has fields string integer COLORNAME CLASSSIZE and a few more that aren't relevant here.

Hello folks, I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>". The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed. This is as boiled down as I can make it. Here is my compilation command: g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp Here is the code in...

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Dear forum friends, With the development of smart home technology, a variety of wireless communication protocols have appeared on the market, such as Zigbee, Z-Wave, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, etc. Each protocol has its own unique characteristics and advantages, but as a user who is planning to build a smart home system, I am a bit confused by the choice of these technologies. I'm particularly interested in Zigbee because I've heard it does some...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own.... Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...

Hello I'm a network technician in training and I need your help. I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs. The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols. I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
