Don't know. Prolly Access assuming incorrect things about the data in
the SS. Try creating an explicit import spec and using it with
TransferSpreads heet. If that doesn't work, take two aspirin and call
me in the morning.

I think you can't use import specifications with spreadsheet imports.
Import Specification is to be used with text import only.

I've found out that you have the most control over how you import files with
text import. You have next to no control with spreadsheet import.
Therefore, I think you had better export the spreadsheet within Excel to
text such as tab-delimited file and then import the text file using an
import specification to Access.

Hello, I nee to write something that will transfer excel data into an SQL Server table. I have for another database application I wrote have it importing Excel spreadsheet data using cell by cell, row by row method. This is fully automated so the user can choose whatever spreadsheet they want to import and press a button which sits on a VB6 frontend. This has been good for that situsation but it can be very slow when there

Hello: Thanks for your quick response. I'm trying to import a new Excel file into an A2K table and it's truncating the data. One of the Excel columns is a text field that can be up to 2000 characters. When I import it into A2K, that field is truncated. If I try to inport the file into an EXISTING table that I define myself where that field is a MEMO field, the import crashes.

I budget for a Project in an Excel sheet as illustrated below. The months below are usually a 2 year period i.e. 24 months, though it could be over 24 months depending upon a Project. I then need to input this in an Access database, where I do a comparison with the Actual cost. The table “TblBudget” in Access is made of 4 fields, namely: (1) CostElement (2) CostCenter (3) Month (4) Amount$. At the moment this method is very cumbersome....

I want to be able to import an Excel spreadsheet into Access 2K using the macro command Transferspreadsheet. However, the file I am importing (over which I have no control) contains some records that are "dirty" i.e. the field contents do not comply with the expected format (date/time) and they end up in a seperate table of import errors. (The records in "error" are actually empty fields.) This is a regular event and I do not want to...

I am trying to import an excel file into Access 97. It looks perfectly all right but, every time I try to import it, I get to the lst step and am told that it was not imported due to an error. There is no further explanation. What are the kinds of things that make this happen? Thanks from an obvious rookie. Gordon

The short of it: If you needed to import a CSV file of a certain structure on a regular basis(say 32 csv files, each to one a table in 32 databases), what would be your first instinct on how to set this up so as to do it reliably and minimize overhead? There are currently no constraints on the destination table. Assume the user or some configuration specifies the database name, server name, and filename+fullpath. The server is SQL...

I have a table in Access which needs updating from an Excel file. Instead of importing the whole Excel like a new table in Acess, how do I do a partial import/update?? For example, Access table has 100 rows of records and 10 columns of attributes. The Excel table has only 50 rows of records and and 2 attributes. The key IDs for the 50 rows and names for the 2 attributes are already defined in the Access table. Thanks in advance!!

Hi all - Last resort time. I'm importing data from a spreadsheet that I receive from one of my vendor using interop.excel. The date field in excel is entered as 4/7/2006, but when I retrieve the value, it returns a double 38449.0. I can't figure out how to convert this value into a proper date. I have no Idea what excel is doing with this date. Also, when I enter in 38449 into

I get a daily excel file for a entire month which I want to transfer into Access at the end of the month. So, there are around 20-25 excel files I get by the end of the month, and I would like to import them into Access using a button. The data contained in the excel files is similar, so there should no formatting issues while importing. I searched through the forums and found the code by mmccarthy for importing excel files. I tried using...

Hello folks, I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>". The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed. This is as boiled down as I can make it. Here is my compilation command: g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp Here is the code in...

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own.... Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...

Hello I'm a network technician in training and I need your help. I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs. The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols. I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
