Deployment information needed for Access 2003

Hi Every Body:

I hope this is to the right post. I apologize if I am incorrect.

Could anyone please answer one or any of the following questions for
Access 2003:

- Maximum size of an Access database (after split)
- speed of Access using a Citrix server (any server for that matter,
will it affect the processing time of other database programs running
alongside Access.
- Would you suggest adding a separate server?
- networking issues if Access crashes on the server

I have my database already set up and am ready to start testing, but
first need to have some answers available for my boss.

I did spend 2 1/2 hours searching microsoft to no avail.

Thank you in advance to anyone that can help.

much appreciated

2 Gb.

No specific reports on Access 2003 and Citrix but A2000 works well on Citrix.
- Would you suggest adding a separate server?
No, a client has them happily running along side all the Office apps and such.
- networking issues if Access crashes on the server

Same as if it crashes on stand alone PCs.

My random thoughts on Microsoft Access, Terminal Server and/or Citrix

Maximum size of an Access 2003 database is 2GB. The front-end should be on
each user's machine, or in each user's separate storage if you use Terminal
Services. Each back-end from which tables are linked can be 2GB. It is
almost certain that you'll find performance will be the limiting factor
rather than storage.
- speed of Access using a Citrix server
(any server for that matter, will it affect
the processing time of other database
programs running alongside Access.
That would be impossible to guess, even if you had provided reams of
detail... it depends on quite a number of factors unique to your
environment.
- Would you suggest adding a separate server?
See above.
- networking issues if Access crashes on the server

If you are running Terminal Services (or Citrix), both the front-end and
back-ends will be running on the server. There is always a possibility of
corruption when Access terminates "ungraceful ly" especiall in a multiuser
environment. Network issues, in the TS/Citrix case, are not as big an issue
as in a normal LAN multiuser environment where the front end resides on the
user's machine and the data on the server.

In the LAN setup, the most common provable cause of corruption is dropped
network connections, in my experience and observations.

The best collection of detailed information on multiuser performance and
avoiding corruption is MVP Tony Toews' site,
http://www.granite.ab.ca/accsmstr.htm.

Good luck with your project. Be sure to give each user their own copy of the
front-end -- multiple users logged in to the same front-end or monolithic
database significantly increases your chances of corruption.

Hi All I wanted to deploy Access files and came to the conclusion that I'd need the Windows XP Developer software but was told that it was no longer available I was instructed to get Visual Studio .Net 2003 Pro which was meant to come with the same tools needed to deploy royalty free access solutions Now my problem is that I cannot find a way to do this and I cannot find the packaging wizard that I believe that I would need to do the job I...

I migrated a VS 2003 add-in to VS 2005. The VS 2003 add-in is a COM interface which must continue to be deployed as a COM server. I have added the project output to the deployment package and I set the Register property to vsdrpCOM. If I look at the VS2005 MSI package generated with a viewer, I find the the CLSID registry setting aren't in the package. Therefore, after installation running the server fails. The same deployment package...

I have a VB windows forms application that accesses a Microsoft Access database that has been secured using user-level security. The application is being deployed using No-Touch deployment. I have VS 2002, Windows XP, Access XP(2000 format). He is my problem....

Hi, Can someone please tell me what is exactly zero deployment in VB.NET. Is it that .NET doesn't need to deal with the registry? If that is the case, then why MS introduced class registry? MTIA, Grawsha

Create two ASP.NET applications. Run them on the development machine to make sure they are error free. Publish the fist application to the root of a remote webspace. Call a page and see that it operates correctly. Publish the second application to the root of the same remote webspace. Permit it to overwrite existing files. Call a page and notice that it waits forever.

We are moving from a Windows 2000 Server to a Windows 2003 server. Our ASP.NET web applications work fine on IIS 6.0 on the Windows 2000 and Windows 2003 server. All of our no touch deployment .NET Windows applications work fine on Windows 2000 server but when we move them to Windows 2003 Server / IIS 6.0 the following happens: 1) User access the EXE via URL... I installed Visual Studio 2005 Professional Ediction in order to create a 2003 Access Deploymnet package so my client could run the Access system I created on all their computers without having Access installed. This seemed to wipe out the choice of selecting the Packaging wizard choiceI had previously. How do you run the packaging wizard to create a deployment package if you have installed 2005 Visual Studio? Thanks. V

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own.... Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...
