It took me way too long to figure this out and I saw a lot of
unanswered questions regarding how to deal with ms-Access memo fields
and creating SP parameters. This is what I finally figured out and it
works (and works with null values as well...
Dim myMemoLen as long, myFrm as string
myFrm = "myFormName "
With Forms(myFrm)
myMemoLen = Nz(Len(.myMemoF ieldName), 1)
Set prm = cmd.CreateParam eter("myMemoFie ldName", _
adLongVarWChar, adParamInput, myMemoLen, .myMemoFieldNam e)
cmd.Parameters. Append prm
End With
cmd.Execute Options:=adExec uteNoRecords 0 2264 This thread has been closed and replies have been disabled. Please start a new discussion. Similar topics |

adLongVarChar to 'text' - Mapping ADO types to Native Access types?
Okay, so it's not the job of Access to map these types, but has
anybody, in the existance of this world ever figured out how to do so?
Does anyone have code that they can share that can correctly map
ADO/ADOX types to the native Access Types, correctly distinguishing
between say 'text' and 'memo'? Even if the routine needs more meta
data from say ADOX such as length,...

I'm using this construction on an Access Memo field:
....
Dim prm as ADODB.Parameter
....
Set prm = cmd.createParameter("myParam", adLongVarWChar, 0, Me.myParam)
cmd.Parameters.Append prm
....
(I have also tried it with adLongVarChar)

I would like to have in a field a big amount of text with a size more than
64K. This field will have text and HTML tags. Is there a way to do this in
access?
Ok, I may be I need to explain myself better. I will have a CMS(Content
Management System) in a web page, where users can paste big amount of text
+ HTML tags then after submitting the form in ASP this text + HTML tags will
write to an ACCESS database .
The MEMO datatype only let me...

Do I get more scalability if I split my database? The way I calculate
things now, I'll be lucky to get 100,000 records in my Access 2003 mdb.
Here some math:
Max mdb/mde size = 2000 x 1024 = 2,048,000k
Let's say on average each record in the database consumes 15k
2,048,000/15 = 136,533 records

I'm having difficulty with trying to update a Access memo field through an
SQL statement where the value I'm trying to pass is longer than 255
characters. The field is being truncated. I'm using a simple INSERT INTO
sql command. Anyone know a way around this?
Sample
strSQL = "INSERT INTO tblListings " & _
"(Dir, Street, City, State, " & _
"AFirst, Price, ALast, MainPhoto, Summary, Details,

I'm using PHPMyAdmin on an Apache2Triad install (latest version; 5.x.x,
which installs PHP5 and PHPMyAdmin 2.8 as well). In Access, I exported a
table to a text file, tab-delimited, text qualifyer of "none" (this is how I
read to do it from newsgroups).
When I use the Query window in phpmyadmin to import the text file, it waits
a while, then returns an error:
#1064 - You have an error in your SQL syntax; check the manual that...

Hello,
I'm looking for a way to parse/format a memo field within a report.
The Access 2000 database (application) has an equipment table that
holds a memo field. Within the report, the memo field is printed within
the detailed area. The problem is, the apllication is not setup
properly, thus the users are entering data within the memo field as:
location1 1/1/2005 1/1/2006

Following on from an earlier post...
I can reliably corrupt a record by doing the following ...
Open two separate but identical front ends on one PC each linking to the
same back end.
Edit a records in one front end and leave it unsaved.
Edit the same record in the other front end and save the change.
Save the change in the first front end - this pops up the Write Conflict
message to which I click Save.

Most computers default to English, but sometimes we require a different language, especially when relocating. Forgot to request a specific language before your computer shipped? No problem! You can effortlessly switch the default language on Windows 10 without reinstalling. I'll walk you through it.
First, let's disable language synchronization. With a Microsoft account, language settings sync across devices. To prevent any complications,...

Hello folks,
I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>".
The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed.
This is as boiled down as I can make it.
Here is my compilation command:
g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp
Here is the code in...

Overview:
Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own....
Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...

Hello
I'm a network technician in training and I need your help.
I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs.
The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols.
I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
