How do I create a .MDE from a .MDB, in an automated way?
I.e. I want to compile a series of files, created on A97 onto A2000.
Converting to the A2000 version, that's a command line option,
but there is no such option to create a .MDE out of the .MDB and
I can't find vb-code that can do it; although the option is on the menu,
it is not in docmd.runcomman d...
Any hints?

Michael Kaplan at www.trigeminal.com has an MDE you can use to automatically convert
your MDB from A97 to A2000.

Sorry, wasnt working on A2000...
But did find the right way to use .DoCmd.RunComma nd acCmdMakeMDEFil e:
Dim NAcc As Access.Applicat ion
Set NAcc = CreateObject("A ccess.Applicati on")
'The following lines simulate accepting the default
'name, clicking Make MDE, and clicking Save
SendKeys MyPath & "{Enter}{Enter} "
SendKeys "{Enter}"
NAcc.DoCmd.RunC ommand acCmdMakeMDEFil e
Set NAcc = Nothing
Works great in A2k.
Thanks!

J'ai donc essayé en ligne de commande. J'ai essayé la commande

Has anyone tried to create a SQL7 view using the CREATE VIEW command
and ADO.NET? If so, is there a trick in trapping a SQL error when
trying to create the view? I have a VB.NET app that, amoung other
things, can create views based on existing tables and a table of
column name equivalents. If I accidently introduce a column name
equivalent that is the same as another column, I end up with a CREATE
VIEW SQL statement that is in error, if...

I need (okay, I want) to make a dynamic array of my class 'Directory',
within my class Directory (Can you already smell disaster?)
Each Directory can have subdirectories so I thought to put these in an
array. The application compiles but aborts without giving me any useful
information.
What I suspect is happening is infinite recursion. Each Directory
object creates an array of Subdirectories each of which has an array of...

I have a report within my access database that I would like to have a
shortcut on my desktop that could bring up that report.
In other words, now I have to double click on the database, then go
into the reports module, then double click on the report.
You can probably guess I am a newbie at access, so any push in the
right direction would be greatly appreciated.

Hello folks,
I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>".
The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed.
This is as boiled down as I can make it.
Here is my compilation command:
g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp
Here is the code in...

Overview:
Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own....
Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...
