Listbox On ClickFires Too Much. . .

I have code that selects records in a listbox called [By Search Type]
based on the value typed in a textbox called txtVendor like the
windows help that narrows the possiblities as the user types.

One of the specifications is that the first possible record should be
selected.

It worked fine until the client decided that when they single click on
the listbox, they want that value that they just clicked on to be sent
to populate the textbox.

So I put code into the On Click event that does just that.

But now, when the user types one letter, the listbox is requeried and
the first available record is selected (as it is supposed to) but the
On Click unceremoniously fires when it receives the focus incrrectly
populating the textbox making it very difficult to type!

1) Why is the On Click firing when there was no click?

2) I've tried shifting the code into different events but to no avail.
Is there a way that the On Click will only fire when it's clicked!?!

My code follows:
*************** *************** *************** ***********
Private Sub txtVendor_Chang e()

RefreshVendorLi st

Me.[By Search Type].SetFocus
Me.[By Search Type].Selected(0) = True

DoCmd.GoToContr ol "txtVendor"
Me.txtVendor.Se tFocus
If Not IsNull(Me.txtVe ndor) Then
Me.txtVendor.Se lStart = Len(Me.txtVendo r)
End If

End Sub
*************** *************** *************** ************
Function RefreshVendorLi st()
Me.[By Search Type].SetFocus

Me.[By Search Type].RowSource = "SELECT Vendor.[Vendor Code],
Vendor.Name" _
& " FROM Vendor WHERE Vendor.[Vendor Code] Like '" &
[Forms]![VendorSearch]![txtVendor] & "*'" _
& " ORDER BY Vendor.[Vendor Code];"

Me.[By Search Type].Requery

End Function
*************** *************** *************** ************
Private Sub By_Search_Type_ Click()
Me.txtVendor = Trim(Me.[By Search Type].Column(0))
End Sub

I am populating a multiselect Listbox from a dataset, with the content of the listbox filled by one table, and the selections determined from another table. So far, I have been keeping the dataset a denormalized mirror of the database, but I'm not having much luck getting the selection logic down (I haven't found a 'hook' where I can access the listbox object as an object to set the listitem's selected property before it gets rendered).. ...

Hi, There is a ROW property on the Web Listbox control within VB.Net. The description states it is "The number of visible rows to display". I have tried setting this property in many different ways. It does not appear to do much of anything. I was trying to use it to control the actual size in rows of the list box on the Web page. But the size of the Web listbox seems to be fixed and controlled by the size of the control set in the...

Hi everyone, I have a ComboBox that when changed, calls a method to change the content of a ListBox. I'm also using the Listbox's SelectedIndexChanged event to change other control values on the form. (It's a Company -> People -> Personal Data relationship) When I bind my datasource to the ListBox, I find that the

Basically I have a listbox to which I add simple STRING items- I have a progress bar which I increment whenever I populate another portion of the complete set of items I wish to add. What I observe is that as more and more are added, population of the list box takes longer and longer. ie the first 10th of the item set are added much much quicker than the last 10th. THis occurs with about 40,000 listbox items. My worry is the listbox may...

I am not very sure whether I should have continued with my earlier thread or started a new thread whose subject matter was somewhat similar to the subject matter in this thread. Anyway after much deliberation, I decided to start a new thread. So here it is. Pardon me if I should have continued with my earlier thread instead of starting this new thread. A ListBox lists all the directories & files existing in a directory on the server....

Hello all: Clearly, I'm not getting it! Here is the scenario: On a web page, I have two list boxen and a text box. The first listbox is populated at page load time (if it is not a postback). This listbox has AutoPostback = True. When the user selects an item from this list, the second listbox is populated with more items relevant to this selection. I am using an SQLDataSource web control for this. These items are headers. I want, when...

I have a .net app that a user currently enters a number in a text box, hits a button and a data call is executed. She wants the ability to enter in multiple numbers (up to 100). So to make things look better visually for that, I created a listbox under the text box. She enters the number in the text box, clicks another button I added and the number is stored in the list box. Then my plan was to grab all those numbers from the list box...

Hello folks, I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>". The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed. This is as boiled down as I can make it. Here is my compilation command: g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp Here is the code in...

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Dear forum friends, With the development of smart home technology, a variety of wireless communication protocols have appeared on the market, such as Zigbee, Z-Wave, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, etc. Each protocol has its own unique characteristics and advantages, but as a user who is planning to build a smart home system, I am a bit confused by the choice of these technologies. Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own.... Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...
