Aggregate Stupidity

All
I need to create an aggregate query returning 3 rows say:

Using the QBE

JobID MaxRate EmployeeID
GroupBy Max Max or GroupBy or ???

Using the query grid I want the maxrate for each jobid and the
employeeID associated with the maxrate. There can be multiple employees
on 1 jobid
I dont want groupby on employee as it will give me the max for
employee on that jobid. If I choose Max employee I get the max
employeeID which has no relationship to the employee with the maxrate.
Can I do this with one query or do I need a 2nd query with a join on
maxrate??

No doubt a common problem for many

Thanks

Tony

===== My error is: error C2512: no appropriate default constructor available I'm trying to use the default args for class B when it is an aggregate of class A. I could solve this problem with a point to B and initialize it in the C'tor of A, but logically it makes sense as an aggregate. =====

I find I often want to be able to do joins against views where the view are aggregates on a column that has an index. Ie, something like SELECT a.*, v.n FROM a JOIN (select a_id,count(*) as n group by a_id) as v USING (a_id) where there's an index on b.a_id. assume there are other tables being joined so I can't just move the aggregate to the outermost layer.

I have an aggregate query as recordsource for a form to show a list of invoices, including the totals (calculated by the aggregate query - I'm trying to duplicate as little info as possible here). What I want to achieve is a recordcount (of the number of records returned by the aggregate query) and Sum of the Invoice totals, but Access does not seem to like calculating either of these on an aggregate query. Any ideas? Am I going about...

I've read that the expression property for DataColumns is used to "Sets or retrieves the expresssion used to filter rows, calculate the values in a column, or create an aggregate column.". I have seen examples on how to filter a column, but how would I filter out an entire row depending on the value of a column? For example, if I wanted to filter out every row in a multi-column table where the "Is Fubar" column equals "true", how would...

I need help writing a function for a program that is based upon the various operations of a matrix and I keep getting a "non-aggregate type" error. My guess is that I need to dereference my pointers, but I'm not sure. Please help. The code: void equate(matrix *A, matrix *B) { int i, j; assert(A.row_dim == B.col_dim && A.col_dim == B.col_dim); for(i=0; i < A.row_dim; i++) for(j=0; j < A.col_dim; j++)

Hello folks, I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>". The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed. This is as boiled down as I can make it. Here is my compilation command: g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp Here is the code in...

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own.... Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...
